I would hardly call it trolling, just making a point. I have a vested interest in EDI's "stretched" facilities being a regular traveller through the airport.

I may not know as much about the industry as others on here but surely all we can expect is for posters to be impartial.
I hope you take your own advice regarding impartiality.

I doubt very much that DL gained very much info from the money pit that was little red. More likely they saw their main American friends at AA and UA throwing 3 flights a day in between them.

Let's face it EDI at times is a complete mess. It's overstretched infrastructure wise. The security area is a mess. They need more apron space and the terminal is uncomfortably crowded at peak times. Even driving airside is horrendous as they've shut of some of the head of stand roads.

They seem to be heading in the same direction as Luton. Pax numbers at all costs. And look at the mess LTN is getting itself into. You'll just end up peeing off the punters and they'll go elsewhere.

The Delta 767 appeared on JFK because it was redeployed from Brussels after the terminal bombing earlier this year. Edinburgh was the place to put it due to forward bookings but it was a damage limitation exercise on another route rather than a proactive change.

Trying to provoke a reaction out of individual members by naming sounds a lot like trolling to me. Either way it was uncalled for.

As do I given I spent the best part of a decade working in the place...the place is a shambles we get that. It's the first part of your post that was the issue.

It's also worth pointing out that nearly every European route is on the 767 this year, even though it may not necessarily apply to next year, much like EDI.

Is the reduction in domestic likely to be down to a drop in connecting passengers to LHR in favour of direct long haul?

For sure, EDI-LHR is down. We had Little Red on that route last year, of course, in addition to BA. And it's not just the long haul growth at EDI but direct international flights generally, including to many European destinations, that is tempting people away from the traditional 'via LHR' routing.

Id expect so. For example, as result of QR running with lower than network wide loads average, there is a lot of (BA) Avios redemption availability Eastbound. Plus for some reason EY offer some of the connecting cheapest flights Ive ever seen for those who like the EY product.
The East Coast rail link has shown consistent gains which adds to options. Domestic figures go up and down from month to month though.

Easyjet 2017

HI Folks,

Hope someone can help me. Myself and my fiancee are looking to book time off work to go on holiday next year but bosses want us to have it booked by end of august.
We are enquiring about the Edinburgh to Bodrum flight EasyJet offer this year and in previous years and from the flights we take its very full but does anyone know which days it will operate in 2017 as edinburgh airport are saying they have no info on any routes as yet for anyairline
Easyjet via social media havent been very informative on this even though we have a deadline.

If anyone knows im available via private messsage on here or on thread any help is appreciated

Thank you for your assistance in advance

Did you not ask this last year too? The fact that your employer wants your summer 2017 dates so early is frankly ridiculous and this should be raised as an issue by all of you. It is wholly unreasonable to expect people to know what leave they need so far in advance. Any employer I've had has always wanted leave sorted out in advance, but they didn't even open up the window until about 6 months out, other than for special circumstances upon request of the employee.

Anyway, that aside, no one is withholding information, but with S16 not even out the way yet, no one knows what S17 will bring until at least this years winter schedule kicks in at the end of October. The airlines don't know what seasonal routes they will offer at this early stage. They will look at how the route performed and, if needed, will move the aircraft elsewhere. With all that has happened in Turkey this summer I would highly doubt Bodrum is going to feature on the easyJet network next summer, but then who knows? To be on the safe side I would book TK when the seats come up as they are unlikely to drop EDI and they will for sure still operate a domestic network inside Turkey anyway. If they change the flights then you're at least going to get to Bodrum. If EZY drop the route you'll get nothing more than a refund and an apology email and that may be too late to book anything else.

easyjet 2017

alasdair1

The easyjet release dates are published on their website and asking for inside information is probably a total waste of time as others have said before me as they simply won't know.

"Autumn 2016" is the main summer 2017 release date.

Flight schedule release dates | easyJet

As edi_local has stated if you employer is really that unreasonable bite the bullet and book Turkish as soon as they release the flights which is usually 330 days prior to departure although in theory it will be 330 days from the date you want to come back.

Prices are not cheap at around £273-300 each return (July 2017) which is the best I can find.

EDI-bjv S17

Hi folks,
Thanks for your replys and I can action accordingly
The edi to bodrum is opperating with an average of 170 per flight this year and caa stats for march and april show a 4%increase in passengers on the route

I know that it was sold out in may when I flew out this year being the only airline to offer this route out of edi
And only ls and ezy opperating this year to bodrum

The 170 ish figure is from easyjets website availability on the flights usualy around the 175mark
Dont know if that would help ezy on this years performance so far dont know what their break even point would be tho
On the price side we usualy pay £272 total return inc bags for both of us but t thats on release day.

Freinds who use the flight more than me say its fuller than usual this year but again I an unsure if easyjet would see that as a positive also the pilots think its selling well from what they see

But the holiday situation Is a departmental thing as we work in small department s they dont tell us dates to take just to not delay to get the form back into them by end aug etc.
Thank you for your input it is appreciated
I am also doing a private study on this route to monitor it and a mod on the voluntary visit turgutreis group ofa resort in bodrum area.
The turkish situation has been going on since 1976 with the kurdistan issue so is not new and I was their in the last proper coup which lasted days abd overthew the government only a few yrs ago
Our freinds dont see any difference in whats happening now than what happened then but it seems people have forgotten
I watch turkish news and an kept up to date localy as well and no changes securities are up as per every year
I have also studied turkish history and political history and still people think its new I and alot of the bodrum customers I know personally have been going for 17years same as me but glasgow beforr the edi flights started.
Also on thr domestic routings is is not vaiable to do this with the costs via ist at around £500just for flights then us transport accommodation and spend we usualy spend total holiday cost £380
If. Any one has any further help it is greatly appreciated.

Wow's route from EDI to KEF will now run through the winter and increase to 3x weekly.

Quite a bumper winter for EDI this year which should see the impressive growth recorded so far sustained.
