Without going through the Easyjet schedule with a fine tooth comb, it seems that in S17 there will be

One fewer flight per week to Alicante, Stuttgart and Reykjavik and
One or more additional flights per week to Dubrovnik, Geneva, Hamburg, Berlin Prague Vienna and Nice.

Good news, it would be interesting to know if they already have some airlines in the pipeline waiting for the new stands or are they just future proofing.

Reverting to A380 stand. Given that at least four of the airlines that serve EDI operate the A380 it is almost inevitable that one will appear someday so it would be handy to have somewhere to park it.

Are you referring to diversions or regular ops?

I was thinking EY and QR may want to substitute a flight with an A380 for PR purposes, AF on a rugby charter perhaps and BA because whatever they've got inevitably ends up on a Scottish shuttle service at some point. I wouldn't see regular A380 flights now but who knows what the future may bring.

A PR event by EY/QR is the most likely IMO but still highly unlikely inn the forseeable future. It may well happen for the 10th anniversary like EK did at GLA but that won't be until 2024 or 2025. Can't see AF bringing it for rugby charters, a bit over the top. Same re the shuttles.

Diversion purposes would be the most likely case of seeing an A380 at EDI, but there is more to accomodating it than having somewhere to park it.

What's interesting is the strengthening of the taxiways and the fact there will be three additional wide body stands. Could be a hint of further wide body services (like china)?

A china route has been talked about for ages, I wish it would hurry up and happen.

Oh well, it's still Heathrow or manchester for me for the next year at least then. Any idea of what routes we have a good chance of seeing in 2017?

Between the south east pier and the main terminal in the area where the equipment storage used to be.

The stands will be joined to the new terminal extension when it is completed in 2018. It will house a more permanent immigration facility and arrivals area.

The stands should accommodate 3 wide-bodies or 6 narrow-bodies or various combinations of these aircraft.

Edinburgh data

What was interesting in their analysis was the proportion of their international traffic originating overseas, ie traffic for whom EDI was the destination rather than the starting point. Apparently this is 49% for LHR, 40% for EDI, and around 25% for airports such as GLA and MAN.
