If its such a money spinner as we are led to believe then EI would be at liberty to reshuffle slots and offer their own LHR route. It doesnt need to be the BA slots. BA will murder them though, just at they did with VS

The route would be operated for Star Alliance carriers. All part of T2 in LHR which is home to 23 members as well as EI and 4U.
Decisions on the aircraft are currently being evaluated but they are likely to be in operation for EI or somebody else.
Anything is possible.

I am prepared to be corrected but IMHO the slots were awarded to Virgin and if they elect to stop using them the slots revert to IAG so I don't see how EI could continue the EDI LHR service.

Yep, they have just spent millions on a new lounge in glasgow to then send half the customers for said lounge to a different airport.
I think this one can be filed under "nonsense"

Was looking at the new AA routes to BHX and EDI and cant seem to book EDI-PHL anymore (was available up until yesterday) so now appears to have been officially dropped. Presume some thought both routes to JFK and PHL were staying, which IMO would have been a recipe for disaster.

had wondered if they were to be permanent new year round routes but both to BHX and EDI appear to be just seasonal

As per my last post here...
A North American carrier cutting a route from Edinburgh to its main US hub after just 1 season and replacing it with "last ditch attempt to make EDI work" route to JFK. Deja vu!

The BHX and American Airlines press releases make no reference to the flight being seasonal only routesonline have made that suggestion.
I take it they either know more than the rest of us or are they drawing conclusions as they are not bookable more than 330 days in advance - 6 October 2015 is the latest I could bring up outbounds from BHX and EDI.
On other websites it has been stated BHX is not seasonal but I suppose only time will tell.

Joe,
Given AA/US is the main hub carrier at PHL, and thus the only one likely to make said route work, which airline do you envisage jumping on such an obvious market?
Genuinely curious.

Joe, do you not understand the principal that these PHL pax will just use the JFK service instead. You can honestly believe AA haven't done their homework and think they are missing a trick by only keeping one of JFK/PHL rather than both. I despair sometimes...
Whilst on the theme of pipedreams, I likewise would like to know what operator you had in mind for a direct EDI-PHL service ?
