I have only checked a couple of dates but the seat-maps show 2 x A320 and 2 x A321, which I believe is down one aircraft on 2014.

Whether this will change with G-ZBAR leaving the fleet per the Monarch thread I don't know as the 320 fleet is shrinking rapidly with ZBAA in paint at Bournemouth and "AR" at St Athan. Once AB departed there will be just six.

If Luton has two A320's, Leeds 2 that would leave one for BHX & MAN to service the GIB flights amongst others.

At least it is one loss that will be covered by easyjet and Wizz.

Thanks OltonPete. I assumed it would be a reduced fleet this summer but wondered what the composition would be.

No paint-shop at BHX (yet).

It flew BHX - Bournemouth for painting into Frontier colours.

Another daily CPH flight will be added by FR to take it to 3 daily.

Olton - I see, then it returns to BHX for handover to Frontier and onward delivery to GYR.

FR are certainly taking the fight to easyJet on the LTN-CPH route. I wonder if EZY will react?

What time of day is the 3rd flight as can't see on their website yet?

Copenhagen (CPH)

Yes, FR showing 3x daily for the Winter 2015/16 season.

The flights are loaded into their booking system but currently all shown as sold out (which is normal when they are uploading new flights).

Will have to wait and see if EZY do anything but surely can't be what they had in mind the year after moving the route from STN.

EDIT:
Something interesting worth noting however is that EZY axed CPH from STN to then reinstate an absolutely useless twice weekly service prior to the route ending. I might be mistaken but to my knowledge CPH airport offer 'discounts' on unserved destinations. If that's the case then surely this was a tactic by EZY to prevent STN becoming eligible to those discounts for FR to take advantage of. Looks as if it may have backfired though if that was their thinking?

It's hard to imagine that the route can sustain 5 x daily flights. Surely something has to give?

Ah yes I see in the winter 15/16 there are 3 flights showing although the flight numbers are strange with the first & final flights each day as FR74XX but the extra flight is just FR4XX. All flights are obviously using a CPH based aircraft

FR & EZY have steered clear of competing directly with each other at LTN until now. I wonder why this change of heart?

I wouldn't say it's a change of heart. EZY still seem to have this tendency of shying away from directly competing with FR.

FR generally have always seemed more up to a fight with EZY, and more so in recent months.

See my edit above in #1734.

It is a little bit like a Monster taking on a Mouse at LTN if we compare the 2 Airlines FR is miniscule in comparison to the home based flying Oranges. There will only be one winner in Bedfordshire if those 2 go head to head at EGGW. With promised future expansion and jobs at LTN from EZY I reckon FR will become even more obsolete. Starting 8 hundred thousand daily flights to Copenhagen won't change that.

By the way I agree, The Frenchies should probably announce their flights considering February is upon us and they want to start in March.

Copenhagen

Not sure if you guys have realised, but easyJet go to three times daily between LTN-CPH from the 5th October!

I don't think this is going to end well for either airlines... Ryanair will probably end up moving it Stansted once easyJet give up on the route, and then Luton will have no connection to Denmark.

easyJet Times from 5/10
LTN-CPH
07.15-09.55
13.00-15.40
17.10-19.50

CPH-LTN
10.25-11.20
16.10-17.05
20.20-21.15

Ryanair Times
LTN-CPH
07.55-10.40
17.15-19.55
21.15-00.00

CPH-LTN
06.45-07.30
16.10-16.50
20.05-20.50
(Seems to be be a CPH based aircraft)

With the success Norwegian are having with their LGW base, but with the limited slots available at the airport, could this at all be a shot across the bows of the Scandinavian low cost carrier to stop them opening a North London base?

Seeing as Norwegian are un-phased at competing directly with easyJet, and seem to avoid Ryanair competition, LTN could have possibly been on their radar?

Why assume EZY will drop it, They have plans to open a lot of routes out of Luton and create a large numer of new jobs in the coming years. They need places to fly, I think it will stay unless it is majorly unprofitable.

dc9-32

AA returned to BHX this morning from Bournemouth in a semi-Frontier scheme (tail white?) and UK registration.

Winter 2014/5

Not really much to say as it is only part-loaded with frequencies seeminghly matching this winter on ALC, AGP, FCO, SSH and TFS. These destinations pretty well match up with the rest of the basis but until the rest is released it is difficult to tell whether it is going to be up, down or flat.

3rd runway

I would have thought Luton based Easyjet supporting Heathrow with a 3rd runway would be the news of the day?
