Don't think Blue islands were ever going to be flying into LTN. Believed it was Aurigny Air airlines

Both Aurigny Air Services & Blue applied to operate the route Here's the Blue application,

& the Aurigny approval

Dual carriageway

I agree with LTNman that progress seems slow, but the airport just put a picture of a digger on their website / Instagram feed with the caption "work continues on our new dual carriageway due to open in December". Time will tell.

That digger shot was taken a few weeks ago.

84 days until Christmas Eve when construction workers start their traditional 2 week break and only 72 working days if we allow for 6 day working. I think it is the case that the contractor hasn't told the airport about a delay yet. Unless they start adding some manpower I would say next Easter will be the new target completion date.

I think the multi story car park, walkways and cores will open around the end of this month or early November. The walkways have been fitted out with railings to stop people leaning against the plastic windows and failing through them to the ground below.

I know I am repeating myself here but this is a lost opportunity to have built something special with a fine view over the airport but the decision to replace the proposed glass with opaque conservatory roof type panels is I think a poor choice of material which has needed protecting with railings. I for one would rather walk at high level with a view rather than a featureless tube.

Once the multistory car park is open the existing short term car park can be either completely closed or half closed to allow resurfacing and remarking of parking spaces. That will make a massive difference to customers perceptions as I can't even start to describe how bad the existing surface is in places except to say that all suitcases have to be carried and not wheeled.

Oh and yesterday I was caught out yet again in a traffic jam that went beyond the roundabout at the Ibis.

Time for news about an airline and not the terminal.

Finnair Cargo, the wholly-owned freight subsidiary of Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa), and IAG Cargo will end a two weekly Helsinki Vantaa-London Luton service with an A300-600(F) operated by DHL subsidiary EAT Leipzig (QY, Leipzig/Halle), Air Cargo News reports. Instead, the two will use bellyhold space on Finnair’s A350-900 between Helsinki and London Heathrow.

I should of added that I was surprised to hear the Blue Air are opening a base at Liverpool.

Those foundations look like they line up with the corner of the old terminal building by current arrivals exit as per artists impression. So looks like terminal extension sticks out that far before the canopy.

Dalaman is a brave move, to start as a new route from Luton...

Thomas Cook reported a 40% drop in bookings to Turkey for this summer, with the current troubles in neighboring Syria and troubles overspilling in to Turkey.

As much as Turkey traffic has gone down many Brits are still going with many flights. I have been to Bodrum, Dalaman and Antalya and I would go back. Many Brits have agreed with me so maybe I'm not the only one. Also Thomson have planned dreamliners into DLM from LGW and MAN next year so can't be little demand. Also Thomas Cook use a lot of heavy aircraft into both DLM and AYT. Also the flight looks as if it's using a Turkish airline.

What happened to the planned routes: Ibiza (5th May 2017) and Menorca (6th May 2017)?

Some other flights from Luton aren't bookable after March still like Tenerife, Lanzarote & Toulouse so I don't think this would be the case.

Not the case at all. In fact they may well be starting to night stop there in the not too distant.

With the Easyjet new timetable it seems that we will see more flights this year with some flights departing either earlier or later.
For example, Bodrum goes dead on 6 and is back in at LTN at 14:55. This is a hour earlier than this year. Another example is AYT where flight this year took off at 1 on both days and now takes off at 17:10 and 15:45. This allows for either more flights or longer destinations. Paphos also has some later flights and looks like more 6:00 flights in the mornings.

Thomas Cook
Not sure why Thomas Cook got rid of these 2 but there haven't been on the timetable for a bit.

Transavia
Paris is now on for next summer at 11 weekly
Monday to Friday 2 daily
Then a flight on the Sunday
I believe there could be a lot more from Transavia next summer from their other bases.

If the other EZY flights not on sale are Tenerife, Lanzarote and Toulouse that wouldn't fill me with much confidence about Copenhagen. The former are both more winter destinations and the latter reportedly doesn't have great loads.

EZY get an extra based aircraft from early spring 2017 so I would suggest that none of the new routes have been released yet - normally happens a week or two after the schedule relase. Very shocked about CPH being finished, although with such strong competition from Ryanair it was only a matter of time before one of the two blinked.

Does anyone know when Vueling/Transavia release new destinations etc, as I have heard both (but mostly the latter) have big plans for LTN.

Wizz Air

From the 26/03/17 Chisinau goes to 5 weekly
London Luton (‏LTN) → Chisinau (‏KIV)
W6 3798 23:50 - 05:15
Chisinau (‏KIV) → London Luton (‏LTN)
W6 3797 21:35 - 23:05
The plane will now be based in Chisianu allowing more space in Wizz timetable as this flight did go at 8:35 using a W route.
