RE CHECK-IN DESKS
If my memory serves me correctly the 100-10? desks at the far end of the terminal have not been used in a long time - only remember them being used for a short while by Ryanair I think, so no real need for extra desks as other people have said most do on-line and bag drop now.
The passenger numbers on the Copenhagen route are amazing, I see our friends on the Birmingham thread seem a bit worried about passengers using Luton instead of SAS out of Brum. On some easyJet flights especially at weekends the sold out signs appear on a regular basis.

Great to hear that Copenhagen is doing so well, especially with such stiff competition on the route.
I wonder if easyJet might be persuaded to look at other Scandinavian routes - Stockholm perhaps?

The main drop off area was closed off to the public today to allow for its removal. All cars are now being directed to the overflow drop off area which is at a right angle and behind the existing facility.

Not so good when you have booked the full package with Thomson Holidays for years now from your local airport, always 95-100% full in January.

Full package holiday still available from your local airport using Monarch Holidays. Twice weekly. Tue and Sat during W15/16, changing to Thu and Sat for S16. Good range of 4* and 5* hotels.

It's a strange move by Thomson to withdraw the popular Sharm El Sheikh route, considering it is continuing from all its other major UK bases, including the likes of Exeter and twice weekly from East Mids...
Thomson Flights ? all the assurances and service you?ve come to expect from Thomson - Flight timetable
I suppose the routes and holiday destinations Brits choose to travel too, vary regionally.
They did something similar with Reus a few years back, and more recently Alicante...
(Reus is now back on the timetable.)
High load factors don't always mean the routes are that overly profitable... It seems the airline/tour operator is jigging the timetables to maximise profitability on the routes that bring the most money, with the limited fleet they base at Luton.
A few years back I remember Thomson also flew the route twice weekly, year round.

I do wonder if Thomson make the most of their Luton base? It's obviously a profitable operation or they wouldn't do it, but I wonder if it couldnt be so much more given the chance?

Simply dizzying El Al outbound capacity increase on the 26th August, in the form of LY214 and LY218 - the latter operated by a 767! Five outbound flights in a day!
Presumably these are the dead returns from charters.

SSH has been a jittery market for some time. (TOM used to fly there twice weekly from LTN during the Winter up until Spring 2014) I've never understood why anyone would want to go there in the Summer anyway!
Flight only is one thing but TOM will look at the return they can make on full packages and some destinations will obviously perform better than others. Its a constantly changing picture and the market will dictate the destinations served....

I see there were no 777s scheduled this summer, but that's not to say they didn't operate.
Those two 777 flights are scheduled for the day before the beginning of Sukkot until the day after it finishes. It's a reasonably popular time for vacations though it seems strange that they scheduled for that but there isn't the traditional extra capacity for the more important holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur this year.
Unless they add the flights late, which is what I think they did with those two extra flights on the 26th. I only happened to notice them during an idle dummy booking, and I'm sure they weren't there a couple of weeks ago.
Edit: I've just seen what they've done. The 777 on the 27th September is to "make up" for there being not any service at all on the 26th for some reason or other, departing in the middle of the night. There are also various departures on other days at other hideously unsociable hours in the early morning. The Jewish high holidays sure screw up El Al's schedule don't they? I take it LTN takes the brunt of the bad scheduling because 24h and slots.

Luton's EL AL operation gives the airline a great deal of flexibility that they could only dream about at Heathrow. It was a bold move coming to Luton that seems to have paid off together with the copycat airlines of easyjet and now Monarch who want a piece of the pie. Shame they could not get a 747 into Luton.
