It's a strange move by Thomson to withdraw the popular Sharm El Sheikh route, considering it is continuing from all its other major UK bases, including the likes of Exeter and twice weekly from East Mids...

I suppose the routes and holiday destinations Brits choose to travel too, vary regionally.
They did something similar with Reus a few years back, and more recently Alicante...
(Reus is now back on the timetable.)
High load factors don't always mean the routes are that overly profitable... It seems the airline/tour operator is jigging the timetables to maximise profitability on the routes that bring the most money, with the limited fleet they base at Luton.
A few years back I remember Thomson also flew the route twice weekly, year round.
