Really?
It's always interesting to see how other airlines jump once one airline takes the risk. I can think of countless examples Norwegian with the US city routes and now BA. Thomson with Costa Rica and now BA. I wouldn't be surprised if Virgin jump on both those wagons.

LHR-NAS
Does anyone know what will happen to the Nassau route from LHR once the 767 has gone? Its still down as a 767 next summer but as i am a frequent flier on the route i dont fancy going AA via MIA if the route stops after the 76 goes. I assumed 787-8 but will they want to put this aircraft on this route? Anything bigger is too big for NAS so moving it the LGW is out of the question as far as i am aware as the 772 is too big for NAS. The 767 turns off at high speeds at NAS and it is quite good fun! Any help would be appreciated as i have to book my trips 18 months in advance and i know the 767's wont be round for much longer in BA colours

At the moment the 767 is scheduled to operate until about June time 2016 then the 777 4 class aircraft is taking over ( pencilled in at the moment but could change )
There is a demand again for first class into Nassau and obviously an upgraded experience for the other cabins as well !
The 787 9 series is also a possible choice but the ground engineers in Nassau have been trained up on the 777 recently
The airport at Nassau is quite capable of handling the 747 as has been used quite recently on a weather diversion from Miami and Grand Cayman can also handle a 777 as again BA operated direct to LGW many years ago when AML operated the route on behalf of BA

Those who know about the BA flight to NAS are not saying. The B772 can operate into NAS, it was the shuttle to cayman which was more problematic. Depending on the day of the week the local BA engineer is being trained on either the B777 or the B787. First is not a priority on this route so I'd guess a B788 will ultimately be deployed. As it stands the B767 has had a further stay of execution until the end of 2016.

It is rumoured that BA plan to reduce the frequency further still during W16 to as little as 3 x weekly to both NAS and GCM when the 777 is added to the route and the route will possibly from the same date move LGW to join the other Caribbean destinations. Only a very small percentage of pax on the route connect at LHR with the majority of pax on this route begin and end there journey in the UK

I believe that Nassau is going onto a 3 class 777 from next year, the San Diego flight is going onto the 777-300 which frees up the 3 class 777 for the route, as only Bangkok and Buenos Aries are on 3 Class 777 aircraft from Heathrow and I presume as more 787s come online this routes will be transferred over.

Re 3 class 777-200. Bangalore is still operated by 3 class 777.
I am sure they will find alternate routes for the 8 LHR based 3 class 777
The other alternative is to convert them to 4 class aircraft.

So we can add SAN, BOM, BLR to EZE and BKK as things stand.

Paxing All Over The World
Hi folks, would like to confirm the rules for a friend next week.
They are doing LHR~JNB~CPT and return with main bag checked through. Hand luggage for Y on the main sectors is handbag/lappie + suitable carry on.
The domestic sectors are (of course) BA/Comair who state one hand case only. If I recall correctly, the long haul allowance 'trumps' the domestic? Especially when it's one ticket and the same carrier?
Cheers.
