We have always felt that the (Belfast) City
Airport is a fantastic airport.
“The location close to the centre of Belfast
is unbeatable, and for that reason we will
operate to Belfast City Airport ... long-term

Perhaps one should ask if adding yet mote capacity onto London is in anyone's interests? I suspect both LHR and LGW can support one carrier from one Belfast airport with throwing LCY into the mix simply diluting profits from the rest. It's a pretty mature market now.

I vaguely remember a similar comment by EI about the benefits / strengths of BFS.....and then they jumped ship to BHD

If the package is right BA would jump ship to BFS, quoting something like being able to operate late flights to BFS which suits the business traveller.

The airlines are in the driving seat

So could we see BA making a return to BFS ?? I mean two airlines serving LHR from BHD with what 10 flights day ? That's far too much ! Plus there's Easyjet flights from BFS (STN,SEN,LGW,LTN) and EI/BE flying Gatwick.

The advantage that BFS has is the availability of late arriving flights
Having used EI in the past from LHR I need to leave central London by 5pm to get the EI 7.20pm flight......not making the most of my business day. I find EZY service to LGW much better for business

Anybody know who the new advertiser of the airbridge will be now that ulster bank has been removed? Will it be HSBC like most other airports.
I know it's the wrong thread but the same question goes to BFS.

Aer Lingus have dropped the Tuesday AGP flights. Could this mean a new weekly route to ALC or PMI? I know somebody posted a few weeks back that ALC or PMI were being considered.

Seems odd that a once weekly flight to a summer destination would go on a Tuesday. Personally I think that AGP and FAO should fly only four a week eg. mon, wed, fri, sun and then they could do ALC and PMI three times a week, on tue, thu and sat.

Another thing, on Ryanair's "Summer 2013" recruitment info page, it gives a list of the bases they are recruiting for. In the UK it includes most of them but Belfast is included in the list, despite that not being a Ryanair base for nearly 2 years. Does this mean that FR are planning to return to Belfast. If they did I still think it would be BHD, I can't see them wanting to use BFS.

As usual FR behind the times. That advert has been standard for a number of years now

I think they need to update

Can't see FR returning to BHD anytime soon - didn't they leave when their demands for a runway extension weren't met? - the runway extension still hasn't happened and isn't likely to in the near future.

There's more chance of the old airport terminal become an aer lingus terminal than FR coming back

Looking on flybe's website theres a fair bit of scaling back in Jan on LGW, down to 3 rotations some days and during summer months only 4 even on peak days. Is this in reaction to the increased competition?

LGW isnt really reduced by that much, January is a quieter month,

BE961 is removed on 1st January, thats the 0645am flight out,
from 10th jan to 11 feb the tue and wed be965 @1015am is removed

BE967 the 12noon departure which was always operated by a DH4 was always being removed for the winter schedule, that and it cost £1400 there abouts to land it in gatwick.

Also from 31st December the last flight to gatwick be969 @1735pm on a monday is removed from the schedule and resumes again on the 11th of February,

presumably these are to make way for the charter ski flights and also to match demand to capacity and still keep yield profitable.

There definitely seems to be over supply to LHR from BHD with BA & Aer Lingus but time will tell who lasts the pace !

Maybe Red Bull will be the advertiser for the airbridge if Ulster Bank have left it.
There doesn't seem to be anywhere near as much quality advertising at BHD over the last couple of years - maybe the drop in pax nos as advertisely affected it ?

it does seem a hefty schedule to LHR. My own thoughts are though that 3x daily is a far lesser risk than 7x daily. Additionally the EI capacity to LHR has basically been shifted across to BHD rather than created from nothing, and in a way the 3-4 LGW flights added into the equation create the same capacity/frequency as BA, albeit spread over 2 airports. Time will of course tell and EI are new at BHD. There does seem to be some gaps on BHD a/c for EI which make me wonder is there more in the pipeline, notably in the early evening. Several people have suggested a jet service to EDI.
