1st LGW BHD - AerLingus

Aer Lingus had almost a full load on Gatwick/Belfast City this morning and this bodes really well for them, yes it is school holidays and good demand, but shows that there is awareness out there that EI are on the route.

As far as LHR is concerned, the route will be off to a flying start once the business men realise that EI has 1st out and last back. BA tomorrow as an examples 1st flight to LHR is at 0750... EI at 0720. This will give EI a good 1st season to get well established on the route, this coupled with the fact that they had no less than 19k pax per month already ex BFS. EZY may be shouting about increasing LGW by 1 a day, but STN and LTN are down 1 each....

Ok so by summer there will need to be 3 aircraft over at the old terminal, but is there room for 3?
Maybe they will turn the old terminal into an EI / EIR terminal?

Maybe they will do something to improve the parking overall, maybe find a bit of spare cash to invest further and build a few more stands?

Just a wee reality check....how many times have such rumours abounded?

On the note of bfs lending bhd some money, its been a while since I've been in bfs but judging by the thread there is a distinct lack of investment there so who knows what cash pile there is or more likely isn't.

How well BFS are doing was revealed in the Belfast Telegraph last week, agreed they are not investing much. However 25-07 is being resurfaced next year and that won't come cheap.

I guess this should be on the BFS thread.

There was previously 6 dash aircraft and 2 e195 now that one has replaced a dash it is 5dash aircraft and 3e195's.
first wave departures to
LGW -e195
SOU -dh4
NCL -dh4
BHX- e195
EMA -dh4
MAN -e195
LBA -dh4
GLA -dh4

Before this the man was a dh4 meaning that there was 6dash aircraft and two e195's

Expect new arrivals at BFS in March folks
In terms of a serious punch against the city or to make significant moves to traffic volumes BFS will need to achieve either of the following and one of them I would see as a distinct possibility.. unfortunately...

1. Ryanair set up base with x number of 738s
2. BA move over

In any case, as it is the story of our very 'functional' airport business in Belfast, is for a big operation to come in the margin for the airport is wafer thin.

I simply can not see or think of anything of anything significant volume other than those. Yeah maybe any one of the previously rumoured BHD possibilities inc Wizz, German Wings... each of which would be nothing more than a few flights per week if they did come.

One would also wonder given Ryanair's absolute desire to come to Belfast ahead of EI in 2007, if EI had chosen BHD, 1. Would FR have struck deal with BFS? and 2. Would they still be there.....

On a different note; EI will be 5 years operating a base in Belfast in early Nov.....

I can't see FR coming into the Belfast market at all, I think they would be there by now if they wanted to be, they had the chance to move to BFS and didn't.

On a seperate note does anyone know what EI's loads have been like over the last 2 days? Did the good first flight loads continue?
