I was down to the understanding that if BHX got a B73H then EMA would be upgraded to a B752 no?

For anybody interested, here is the provisional version of Summer 2010 bases:

Glasgow - 2 x 75W
After Globespan went, Thomson announced they will offer an extra 250 flights from Glasgow. So with this, will Glasgow be increased to three based aircraft?

East Midlands will be 2 x 737-800 and 1 x 757. (I don't know what a 73H is and I have flown the things!)

Re GLA,

the press release on the BAA website states this :

Thomson Holidays and First Choice have announced an extra 250 flights this winter and next summer from Glasgow, serving Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol, Algarve, Majorca, Tenerife, Turkey, Cyprus and Florida. In total, the airline will add an extra 7,000 seats this winter, and 38,000 next summer, from Glasgow.

With there going to be 12 B75W's in the fleet for Summer 2010, what aircraft will they include?

Currently - G-BYAX, G-BYAY, G-CPEU, G-CPEV, G-OOBA, G-OOBE, G-OOBF, G-OOBG and G-OOBH

So what are left to be converted to winglets?
G-OOBC, G-OOBD and G-OOBE?

Will BC, BE, BF, BG, BH be painted into Thomson Airways livery for S10 as well?

Is it correct that Thomson are to operate the Maldives (Male) from EMA for 2010 on a B763... Doesn't seem to be available on their website, but according to ana-aviation, it is down for a Wednesday after the Cancun Flight

TOM0188 Depart 09:35, Arrive 09:40 (EMA-MLE)
TOM0189 Depart 12:40, Arrive 18:50 (MLE-MAN)

One thinks there is a few errors on the cargo schedule as there is also a flight to Aruba listed for Newcastle on saturdays throughout the summer, which is not operating either?! However the aircraft which is indicated actually arrives into NCL from SFB and positions out to LGW then operating to Aruba, so maybe cargo can be loaded and just transit through LGW?

transwede

That siounds about right. The flight times for the MLE flight ex EMA seem a little too early for deaprture and to be able to arrive back in the UK at that time. Most MLE, GOA flights etc will leave usually after 5pm UK time.

I think transwede is right about cargo being loaded through. The aircraft leaves EMA at 09:35 and positions up to MAN before leaving MAN to MLE later in the day at 17:40. It is therefore not available for passengers to book, but as rightly pointed out, it is in the cargo schedule as an available connection.

This flight is currently down to be operated by a Boeing 767-300 with the newly fitted winglets!

Re-fuelling Stop

I have a small question for those in the know. Wife and I are due to fly with Thomson Airway TOM 192, Bristol to Barbados on 27 Feb 10 with this outbound flight making a re-fuelling (tech) stop in Manchester en-route, Why?

Two years ago we did something similar flying with Thomson flying out of Bournemouth direct to Barbados, no stops. Hence my question above.

Thanks in antisipation.

Highly possible. BRS only has a 6500 foot runway and so a high weight 767 would struggle. Will likely depend on en-route and destination wx dictating how much fuel he needs. Probably prudent to plan it via MAN but if conditions are favourable they'll go direct. Maybe some experienced 767 ops guys out there can fill in the exact numbers.

Using a standard day nil wind 15c QNH 1013 a 763 will at best packs off be able to take off from BRS at around 164.5 tonnes on RW27 (less on 09) as against its structural RTOW of 186.8.Given a likely all adult pax load on cruise flight Zero fuel weight is likely to be around 120t the remaining 44.5t available for fuel and with prevailing headwinds westbound is unlikely to be sufficient for a direct BGI flight.BOH has an extra 200 metres available which makes a lot of difference to the available Take off weight.Bristols runway remains its achilles heel.

My parents did a BRS-BGI run to join a Fred Olsen cruise in the Carribean just under a year ago. This was on a Thomson 763, and went out and back via DUB, where I think it also picked up/dropped off some pax.

They live in W Wales and would have preferred CWL, but I guess the flights go from where the best market is!
