Just booked flights with Thomson from Belfast for the summer. The A320 operated from BFS is leased from Skyservice as far as I know for the summer months. So had a little search for pictures of the aircraft, and although the flight is opeated by Thomson Airways, the aircraft is in the First Choice livery with falconholidays stickers (large TUI brand in Northern Ireland, together with First Choice and Thomson).

If the aircraft has been leased for the summer from Canada and recently painted out of the Skyservice livery, why has it not been painted in Thomson livery?? Is it not bizarre to paint an aircraft recently in a livery thats now going to be done away with, especially as it doesn't even have the Thomson Airways name on the side?

If you look at the pictures of the aircraft when it was operating for skyservice it was never actually painted in their livery. It was the First Choice livery with Skyservice stickers. It was therefore probably easier to put First Choice titles back on the plane rather than re-paint it in the Thomson livery!

Thanks for the information.

Are there any immediate plans to start repainting the FCA A320's into the Thomson Airways livery??

The A320/321's will not be re-painted......they are not part of the long-term fleet.

I believe there is a Thomson Airways scheme - the two B738s delivered in Mar/Apr wear a 'new' scheme with red Thomson titles, as opposed to the old red and white Thomsonfly.com titles.
I believe this to be temporary. There is no ThomsonFly anymore, whereas there still is First Choice and Thomson as brands. The 787 will see a new airline re-launch. Probably....

And the 787's arrive.........when?
First flight in June 2009 (according to Boeing) and deliveries to Thomson end of 2010. Some airlines have cancelled orders so Thomson has moved up the delivery schedule. Again, probably....!!

they will definately keep the 738s and most of the 757s but what will they do with the 767s when(or if!)the 787s arrive?

I'm confident the 787 is a long term replacement for the 767. This will obviously take some time though.

The future is 737-800 and 787. It will take a while before all of the 757's and 767's are phased out though.

For the summer Thomson are basing an Airbus A320 and a Boeing 737-800 at Stansted.

Hope this helps!

Also with some of the 757's leaving the fleet. What are they doing with the new interiors and seating? Are they being used in the new 737's that are gradually arriving, or will they be used on some of the ex FCA 757's to replace the green leather?

Which B763s have which seating arrangement?

I know that all ex FCA aircraft operate a 258 seat pattern but what do the TOM aircraft operated, I believe that G-OBYF is 328 seat

It positions in from Glasgow as TOM670F and after the Sanford and Cancun flights positions to Birmingham as TOM284F.

Hope this helps!
