Err.....no, actually.
It took me all of 20 seconds of Googling to find a website claiming that Edinburgh was the largest financial centre outside of London. And another 20 seconds to find another one making a similar claim for Manchester.
I wouldn't deny, for a moment, that Leeds is home to a significant financial services industry. But you need to interpret that description broadly. How much of that is retail banking, insurance, mortgage administration etc? Bog standard consumer finance. I'm sorry, but it's hardly investment banking - certainly not the sort of high calibre finance that generates a significant demand for intercontinental air travel.

Good impartial source that.
Check out the Office for National Statistics for number of people employed in each sector of the economy in different parts of the country.
Gives a very different view.
Do you really believe more people work in finance in Leeds than cities like Edinburgh?

Cut and pasted from that most definitive of sources, Wikipedia......
According to the Wikipedia article, the claim to be the largest financial and business services centre outside London is based on 3 sources. Two of those are local Newspapers and the third is the very same website you've already posted a link for. As Manchester Kurt put it, none of those sources are exactly impartial.
So very much unproven. Although I suspect you will continue to believe whatever it suits you to believe.

The claim that Leeds is the second largest financial centre outside London is debatable, IMO, but I don't dispute it has a financial services industry.
The more pertinent question is whether this is large enough and of the right type to generate significant business traffic, especially in the current economic climate.
And on that note I shall (hopefully) shuffle back into the shadows.......

I did see the same ac on Monday at about 11.40am heading from east to west at about 4,000ft. The Monday before at about 12noon same ac type was at the same height on the same heading. Any body from the MAN area give a heads up on this as I would think it was heading in your direction.

Anyone know the significance of the Gulfstream parked on the Multiflight East apron today with the "United States of America" written on a blue stripe all down the side as per Airforce One style livery?

So are we seeing an upgrade at last for the 32 approach, If so what they doing?
Anyway I just hope we dont get any foggy days up here for the next couple of weeks. As most of the based aircarft will be heading towards. MME, DSA & MAN with no CATII or CATIII Available.

LBIA
I noticed this flying into LBA this week, GP out of service CAT2 and 3 ILS unavailable.
Which basically means all Categories of ILS unavailable if GP out of service including CAT 1, why complicate matters with more chit chat and just say ILS not working full stop
