If you booked direct through Silverjet you will only get money from your Credit card company and not all that you paid.
The CAA ATOL is only for people who booked through a Travel agency or through a travel management company.
ATOL does not cover airline tickets.
Good luck to you all at Silverjet.

A distressing sight at Luton today:
A Silverjet 767, carrying the colours of the airline with perhaps the highest level of service seen in these parts, but sadly now out of business.
Taxying past - an Aeroflot A320, carrying the colours of what was one of the worst levels of service in the industry, yet is surviving.
No justice....
Best of luck to all at SJ.

Sorry Mary
That is only if it was a package that you are covered
This is alson on the BBC web page
UK customers that have booked just an airline ticket from Silverjet are not eligible to claim a refund from the CAA's Air Travel Organisers' Licensing (ATOL) scheme.

Good luck to all at Silverjet in finding new jobs.
My colleague has flown the Dubai - Luton route a few times and has never been disappointed in the level of service provided. Everybody was working very hard to make the operation a success so it is a great shame the finances did not match the level of effort put in by the employees.
Rebellion:
Payment by this method usually incurs a surcharge, which given the given the amount being handed over is a relatively small percentage of the total. Having been in this situation before, I consider the surcharge to be a form of insurance

Speechless...
I worked for silverjet and it was a fantastic company to work for we recieved an email last week telling of the circumstances and asking for us not to worry as a new deal was on the table.
We did not even find out that we had lost our jobs through silverjet but on the news! we recieved emails around 10am after the annoucement was made. I knew at 7am it was going to happen as my wages were not paid.
It turns out everyone has been paid e.g. flight deck, ground and office staff except for the crew how are we supposed to survive with no money!
I am sad because i really belived in this company and what Lawrence was saying i now look back and feel somewhat naive to have not known it would turn out like this!

Sad to see Silverjet go. I am glad though that they have paid their staff although shame that it seems not everyone has been paid so far.
I think there was nothing wrong with the business model of EOS, Maxjet & now Silverjet, even BA's Willie Walsh has said so himself, it was just the high start up costs and fuel prices meant that it was going to take some time to make some money and unfortunatly the money needed to get to that stage wasn't available.
It seems now that the only people able to fund a business only carrier are the major airlines such as BA.

Thank you
Bit unsure where to post this but Danny pointed me here. Sorry for intruding but I was a SilverJet customer and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved for making every single one of my flights with you an absolute pleasure, on the ground at both ends and in the air. I lost as a shareholder and have outstanding bookings but my real loss is that I wont have the pleasure of flying with you again. You made SilverJet quite simply the best airline I have ever flown with.
Thank you all very much and I wish you all the very best at this difficult time.

Sorry to see you go
I meet up with some of the Silverjet guys when they where considering even routes expansion down here to South Africa in the days when aviation's future looked great (last year is so long ago) and looked forward to your services. Hope the future proves better.

Enter, 1 x Silverjet Employee!
Wow, what a day its been! I work'ed' for Silverjet as ground staff, and its been absolutely crazy in the lounge today! Half way through checking in the 101 to EWR, the announcements made and we're off to tell the passengers
to go home.
I'd just like to say thank you to everyone on here for your support, as well as todays 101 passengers who put their flight aside and supported my team in their circumstances.
Still, Lawrence Hunt will not let this go down without a fight, and I think alot of the company still backs him. Best of luck LH.

Quoted from Eddy
....That's clever, but ruthless, business.
Maybe they had no intention of ever staying on the STN route. They started it to get rid of the competition and now people will have to go back to flying AA's (or so their theory will go) main routes out of LHR.
Again, clever but ruthless.

Hmm interesting! Anyone remember the fate of Legend Airlines at Love Field a few years ago? Premium service carrier driven into the ground by AA!

I've just seen the news
Terrible news for all staff concerned, I really hope you all get re-employed as soon as possible. By the sound of the reviews I've read, you're all absolutely top class people.
I'm booked with Silverjet for my first ever transatlantic flight in September, but now need to claim my money back and re-book with someone else.
BA and Virgin are offering discounted rates, but I still can't afford their Club or Business flights
Out of their Premium Economy options, could someone please tell me whether (in your opinion) BA or Virgin is more comfortable for a 6'2" guy?
Many Thanks, and best wishes to all ex-Silverjet staff.

Paxing All Over The World
This works against the LCCs too. When Go started STN~MUC, Lufty quickly got in on the act and then dropped it. Happily, EZY are still on the route and Air Berlin is now the other.
However, I don't think that SJ has been targeted specifically as the majors know the price of being caught doing that. But, starting a premium business in a country that has been expanding (indeed Booking) for ten years? It was always going to be risky. Very sorry to hear about the job losses and hope you find new jobs before the next carrier goes and the queue gets longer.

I have just found out the advantage of buying seats through Touchdown Holidays, the industry travel firm.
Silverjet went bust at 0730 and by 1400, Touchdown had emailed me to say that a full refund had been credited to my card account.
Well done Sharon!
BA still seem to have Club World for £1099 return to JFK by the way.
Let's hope the staff have similar good luck.

A couple of weeks back, it was rumored that the Ruben brothers (recent investors) would look to pick the bones and resurrect some of Silverjet assets post administration.
