Well looks as if BAA were telling the truth GSM have released W08 flights to Sharm El Sheikh and Gran Canaria.
Is the 752 to be converted to only offer premium economy seats? I notice you can't book Business class to YHM anymore.
Anybody know why they cut GLA & LGW to 1x weekly?

I wonder whether GSM will be interested in acquiring any parts of XL from the administrators. XL's current fleet includes B738, B739, B762 and B763 with 4 x A332 and 2 x B739 on order for delivery over the next 8 months. The Travel City market segment might be a useful add on to GSM's tranasatlantic businesses, and some B738s might be of interest to replace the B733s and B736s that GSM will be offloading at the end of this season. GSM, despite its punctuality problems and current fuel prices, would appear to be a profitable operation based on recent results.
XL's position is bad news for many, but I expect GSM and others will be glad to have one less competitor in the market place.

Not sure whether GSM will be picking up any more A/C, as the S09 routes released so far will be operated with the 5 B738s, 2 B73Gs, 1 B752 and 2 B763s. Never konw though.
GSM are reported to be in a very strong position, lots of ACMI work for W08, and profit for 2007/08 to come in at over £2m compared with £20m loss for 2006/07. Looks like they have learnt their lesson!!

what does ACMI work mean???
I have heard that there is a list of ten holiday firms/airlines that are on some sort of list that bookies are taking odds on being the next firm to go bust. Does anyone know if Fly GlobeSpan feature on it or not???
I sure hope not.
There is going to be a major shortage of flights to Florida from the UK now 'cos XL/Travel City flew out plenty of times a week.
Hope this is the last major player to go ta ta :-(

Think there's lots of scaremongering going around just now and I think its terrible, people really shouldnt report things unless it is actual fact, lots of people getting scared/frightened at present.
There is a post on another forum (dibb) just now re globespan and it is giving a lot of people a lot of worry, me included!!!

Aircraft, Crew, Maint, Insurance.
ACMI
eg
XXX charters YYY's aircraft @ $3000 per block hour.
All other costs will be billed to XXX direct, by current XXX contract companies. (Fuel, Catering, handling, Crew Hotac and transport, Nav charges etc).

Yeah, found it thanks LJ.
What a pile of rubbish. I had a text from a mate last night who had asked if all was ok with us. She's going to SFB next week - now I know where she got the question from!
The usual grapevine chat which is just fire water......

Just had a look at dibb. If its the same thread that everyone else is commenting about, there is only one post on that thread, that imho would appear factual. The rest is just emotions/imagination.
