Anyone heard a rumour about the HQ operation being moved to Manchester.
Difficulty getting staff to work that far north and good availability of very skilled people at MAN following mergers and closures might give it some credence and, as stated in this forum previously, the one place GS aircraft / crew never seem to be is Scotland.

Yeah right ...not !
A large and resounding No !!!
Why................because the engineering section is in a sh*te state and has been from the start because we've been stuffed with sh*te COWBOY engineering courtesy of Cou*ar/*Sa*re inputs plus micro management & no links with spares suppliers in the UK or anywhere else courtsey of the TD man........ net result......the man from the CAA says..............NO !!!

Last time I was on a GSM 600 series was from GLA-AGP. Worn carpets and tape holding up a number of trays and also arm rests hanging off a few seats...seriously!
Interesting that SAS have taken them (2)- I thought it was SAS who had offloaded them to GSM in the first instance?

Think the rumour was specifically regarding an operations base only at MAN ( different to routes/ crewing/aircraft base). Infact an ops base could be anywhere. Just look at Thomson.

A few pilots are still based at MAN and we have a crew room there. We will be doing some flights from there this summer.
No need for rumours. From what I can make of it the base was never totally closed, we just stopped flying from there for the winter.
I hear some 737 crew are still STN based too. Even though there are no flights or aircraft there this summer.
Ops not leaving Scotland but they were looking at other premises north of the border. I think the speculation was about the old MyTravel training dept.

New head honcho for operations is an ex-Thomas Cook engineering guy and they are planning to move all ops, crewing and engineering to Manchester. Recruitment for these jobs in Scotland is apparently difficult and there is a pool of ready-made staff for the jobs in Manchester due to the charter airline mergers. Set-up will be in place by the summer as far as I know.

Perhaps it is part payment for storing the 738 in LPL that the advert is still there on the tail?
Sorry 736 I meant, we have so many 738s here it was a slip of the finger!
