You are ignoring the fact that they can treat the restructing costs of €120M as restructing costs i.e. an exceptional item.
The business did not generate them any cash in 2008 as they had to put in cash and they are saying they will use up €250 M of existing cash in 2009 and that includes the €120 M on redundancies.

If it is Aer Lingus...
Sounds to me like desparation .
This is something [Ryanair] are very good at doing, maybe Aer Lingus
are starting to take note on how Ryanair do things, AT LAST .
Or maybe Ryanair are planning to announce more routes from
Gatwick .

It's down to appalling planning. They launched Gatwick without having the crew or the aircraft. They cannot get the crew trained in time. They were then forced to look at crewing it with DUB crew on DUB contracts and HOTAC with expenses, having sold over 100,000 £9.99 seats. Now they are wet leasing in 2 units for S09. Very poor.

Entertaining .
What I find enteraining is that the has hit the fan regarding
the share price and I am wondering like many investers should be
whether they should have took Ryanair up on the FIRST or even
the SECOND bid for Aer Lingus, there is no profit in pride....

Well, the design of the ad looks more like Ryanair than Aer Lingus (not sure if it is the original ad, though, or something the website has made up as an illustration).

Aer Lingus Warning to shareholders !!!
Aer Lingus is warning shareholders that operating losses in 2009 will be even worse than those recorded in 2008. While the company refused to put a number on the likely operating loss in 2009, most analysts are reckoning on about €60m.
That's an almost €150m turnaround at the operating level in just two years.
This is despite Aer Lingus taking a €117m exceptional restructuring charge last year. This restructuring programme is supposed to eventually reduce staff costs by €52m a year.
This deterioration in Aer Lingus operating performance means that the airline is now eating into its cash reserves. These were down from €757m to €653m last year.
With Aer Lingus needing this cash to help fund its €1.8bn fleet replacement programme, squandering it to fund day-to-day losses simply isn't an option.
Analysts estimate that Aer Lingus is currently burning through its cash hoard at an annual rate of over €200m and that the year-end figure could go as low as €400m.
While some of this cash, about €150m, will go towards paying for new planes, more than €100m will go to cover day-to-day losses.
This situation can't continue for very long. At the current rate of cash burn, Aer Lingus would have exhausted its cash hoard by the end of 2011 at the latest.
In practice, something will have to give long before that.
The recently appointed Aer Lingus chairman Colm Barrington will be anxious that the airline doesn't crash-land on his watch.
With time rapidly running out, radical action is needed at Aer Lingus. If the Government can't be persuaded to sell its 25 per cent shareholding to Ryanair, then maybe Barrington should be looking for another more politically acceptable buyer for Aer Lingus... GOOD LUCK ...

Daz you are quoting the Sunday indo., consider your source. What was actually predicted was an operating profit for 2009 at currant yield levels and brake even if yield levels drop by 12%.
You don't have any shares in Aer Lingus, so what is your motive in spouting here.
Tomorrow MO'L has called his press men to announce a cut back at Dublin-reason given, the Government's tax. Real reason Aer Lingus are stuffing him and he needs to get out while he can. You don't cut back profitable routes no matter how much you dislike a tax. Stop spouting FR spin on this thread, your motives are apparent to all but the indo. fraternity.

Aer Lingus own documents released last week indicated a burn of €250 Million in cash in 2009.

Now now you in no position to be throwing stones in your glass house .
The point I am making is maybe just maybe people/institutions my well
have sold their shares to MOL if Aer Lingus had told the truth about
the situation at the time of the SECOND offer...
The problem EI now has is they cant be trusted, they cant find another buyer and they have to find other Airlines to fly some of the new routes from Gatwick, they are burning money faster than the are making it and to top it all of they are to proud to sell up to the worlds fastest growing Airline.
EI turned down offer [1] and offer [2] I wonder how long we have to wait for offer [3] to be accepted, and lets pray a 3rd offer is made or god knowns what will happen to Aer Lingus in 2009/2010.

So it was Aer Lingus after all ...
Sightseers were given an eyeful today when hundreds of people stripped off beside a London tourist attraction.
Men and women of various shapes and ages disrobed at Jubilee Gardens next to the London Eye in the capital, relying on strategically placed 'shamrocks' to protect their modesty.
The stunt was carried out to launch Aer Lingus's new £9.99 'no hidden extras' fare from Gatwick.
The offer for flights to new European destinations, including Vienna and Munich, begins on April 6.
The volunteers received two free return flights for taking part.

10 Euro me boll..............
I don't even want to comment on this 10.00 Euro craic.
There are very very travel companies not suffering at the mo. MOL sprouts from a height. 10.00 won't decide is someone visits Dublin/Ireland or not. It's the cost of pints, dinner, entrance to the zoo etc that decides coming or not coming to Ireland or leaving it for that matter. Of course it makes for good reading in DA papers.
It's really easy, EI have a superior product, it's not really that much extra. If you sit down and do comparison's, by the time you've counted in fee's etc, you'll find EI and FR nearly match - to the cent - each others fares on routes.
So, folks, stop giving MOL press, he loves it. As long as the price is right, just get on and travel. Phuck depressions, recessions, ebola etc - we're here for a good time not a long time.
Slan a chaire.

Good to see Aer Lingus playing O'Leary at his own game finally. Free advertising is welcome.
