Again, many thanks for the link to the photo ShannonIE2010. It looks absolutely pristine and spotless, without a single blemish.

I am looking at booking flights from belfast to tenerife for new years.. but i just remembered reading on this recently, its been rumored that aerlingus are to reduce its belfast base to 1 aircraft for the winter?
however the tenerife route is for sale...
Safe to book the flights or not??? i just fear they may email in a couple of weeks to say the route has been suspended..

there will be 2 EI aircraft in BFS this winter, not 1... will be the same routes as last winter (LHR, ACE, AGP, TFS, and one undecided) could either see a new route for winter, or MUC will begin again or FCO will continue into winter...
i would go ahead and book, unless something goes drastically wrong this year (which i doubt) then you will be ok

EI-ELA is actually named "St.Patrick" - it was initially painted as "St.Colman" but as EI-DUB the previous "St.Patrick" has left the fleet to Vladivostok Avia it was decided to rename 'LA before delivery - making it the second 'LA to be named St Patrick the other being B720 EI-ALA

Same at DUB EI handle check in etc and SHP deal with the aircraft. SHP do baggage handling hence why the regional flights bag drop is beside the RE desks so bags go to the correct hall.

On the naming of EI-ELA I heard a funny one from a friend who works in Aer Lingus' engineering department.
EI-ELA is the latest aircraft to carry the name “St Patrick” (as said by Shanair). There has always been one (and only one) aircraft named “St Patrick” in the Aer Lingus fleet. Airbus were therefore only supposed to officially name EI-ELA immediately prior to its delivery, which would be just after the departure of the previous “St Patrick” (EI-DUB). Allegedly, some smart ar*e French Airbus workers saw an opportunity to temporarily name a EI-ELA whatever they liked and decided that “T. HENRY” would be an appropriate name to splash across the fuselage...

Please dont think that im bashishing EI this is only a question that has been on my mide since yesterday.
How long can EI take the financial hit that all airlines are facing due to the ash problem
the news channels are reporting its costing airlines tens of millions a day..
again this is not a dig at EI its just a question.

2 St.Patricks'
There were also 2 St.Patricks' in 1979. EI ASJ a 747 which was leased to BA at the time and EI ASI St.Colmcille was re named St.Patrick when it was used to fly Pope John Paul II to Ireland.

With regard to EI regs, anyone remember the 732 that also had it's reg on the wing for some reason. EI-ASH maybe?
Is there a list of EI regs somewhere on the net? (I wonder is there an EI-EIO? )

Does anyone no when EI will release their winter 2010/2011 flight schedule?
On the topic of EI registrations, and at the risk of having the thread shunted into 'Spotters', there was also the "short lived" EI-BEG, one of the Shorts 330's that Aer Lingus operated in the early 1980's. But seeing as it was a period where the then State owned business was hemoraging cash and had to look for handouts to prop it up each year, allegedly under government pressure, the aircraft was re-registered to EI-BEH. The story goes, that "them in power" didn't feel it approprate for the ailrline to have the word "BEG" associated with it. Pitty they don't apply that same logic to the banks today.
Just a quick query. Are all EI aircraft currently at their bases during the current airspace closures or are any "trapped" away from home?

there are 3 321's in LHR. JFK - DUB no seats until next sunday at least and now that all flights are cancelled tomorrow and possibly tuesday were looking at sold out flights for another week or so to get everyone back to where they are suppose to be. Think of the crew having a long extended break in the states at $XXX per night (not saying what it is)

@dannykelly. I don't think it's fair to say that any airline crew member is delighted with the events of the last four days. They do have families and lives outside of work and I'm sure they would prefer to be looking after their kids rather than trying to organise child minding and the likes from the other side of the Atlantic. $xxx expenses as you say doesn't make up for that. You obviously haven't a clue!
