CaptKremin, name calling and unability of reading "between the lines" must be your main abilities. Moreover, I was not jokeful at all.

The only thing that will happen in six months, is that the world will have eaten eight months of annual natural resources.

The world is full of aging and deluded revolutionaries. Wake up now or join their ranks.

Lost in our Vodka are we?

You Right Wing Nutters have driven this industry and the world economy to the brink with your failed neo-liberal dogma.

Errrr, this would seem to be a contradiction in terms? Perhaps you meant "Neo-conservative"?

You Left wing nutters don't seem to understand that the world doesn't owe you a living and that only profitable businesses, with a relevant business model in an ever-changing world, can and even should survive. It's the survival of the fittest dear Kremlinologist, as was pointed out to the USSR?

The lone rant came from CaptKremin, altough to insert an 'l' to make Kremlin seems almost natural.
You started it - what are you bitching about? Get off your high horse.

Moreover, I was not jokeful at all.
Neither am I.

Keep your head buried in the sand buddy. When world commercial activity has shrunk to zero we'll all be eating grass, and burning dollar bills for heat.

The world is full of aging and deluded revolutionaries. Wake up now or join their ranks.
...and join the 'neo liberal revolution'? Your philosophy is a busted flush. The US has turned to Socialism, in case you hadn't noticed. The rest will soon follow. This is the end game. Capitalism is dead. Are you scared?

Watching the performance over Alitalia is like watching a bad tragic opera. The victim takes poison or gets stabbed in act one, and then takes the rest of the performance to die. The last scene is the lavish and triumphant funeral taking care of any remaining worldly goods. Predictable, costly, and quite frankly, boring.

Hmmm, philipat maybe I need a sip of vodka, but in fact I tought that neo-liberism is kind of a rightish view in economy that goes well together with neo-conservatorism in politics.

But now please excuse me, I got to buy a ticket to watch the rise of Socialism in the US. I think there is a missing 'l' also involved, but since dope05 has taken my lithium, I can't be sure of anything anymore.

But as they say in The United States of Government bailouts (Which they used to call France), "It ain't over till the fat lady sings". Bring on the fat lady!!

Surely the Italian Government could have come up with something radical even pushing their luck with the EU. Why not have setup an alternative airline to take over the reins when the final day of judgement befalls Alitalia. Surely the new airline could then recruit all the best ones and shall we say 'pass over' the others ....

It will help isolate the unions to some extent but like weed they'll grow back sooner rather than later but at least Italy has an equivalent airline in the meantime.

That picture above really does sum it up very well people who simply don't wish to work. There are countless people around the world risking life and limb to get to a country where they'll find employment whilst these luxury seekers can't be asked. The bandits to these people is the mere utter of the words personal responsibility, work ethics, commons sense and of course the real curse on their heads business practice. You eat what you earn.... the unions are always asking for a handout from other people's pockets but do the unions ever offer to subsidise the company. Why couldn't Alitalia slash the workforce salary or at least for some of them to reduce the burden on the company finances. In the interim the unions could pay the workers the shortfall themselves so everyone gets what they want.....? They could fund it through the last few years union membership subscriptions. Of course they wouldn't be to afford it when asked so why do they think the business can when they demand it ??????

Those workers (and I use that term lightly) should be ashamed of themselves they are fighting to preserve an inexcusable business. They seem to think they have the right to be in that uniform, maybe their parents never explained to them the simple truths of life, "hardwork", "sacrifice", "don't always get what you want", "not the end of the world", "pick yourself dust yourself down", "good things come to those who wait", "make your own luck", "teamwork", "can overcome hurdles if you put your mind to it", etc ........

Still harping on the same old defeated mantra?
When the biggest banks in the US have gone under you wax lyrical about 'profitability' and deride the unions? You must be blind or half witted. Was Lehmans unionised? Morgan Stanley? ----- RYANAIR?

You're like an alcoholic - still in denial, drunk on cheap credit and dreaming of your neo-liberal, union free utopia.

Its YOU who should wake up. The parties over.

You might have a hard time convincing the Chinese that capitalism is dead...

And to say that capitalism is dead because there isn't any capital is a) incorrect b) stupid and c) naive. Even Karla would know that.

nice wind-up though...

So the last bastion of capitalism is now communist China? Is that your last hope?
How the mighty have fallen!!

As for the second half of your post - come back when you have a reasoned argument you headcase.

Errr, no. Actually I retired at 40 after a (brief but profitable) entrepreneurial career making a lot of money for myself and a lot of shareholders and employees. And we had Unions, with which our Board always had a very cooperative working relationship. I now live very comfortably on the beautiful Indonesian Island of Bali (When I am not cruising out to the Eastern archipelago on my yacht) without any need for cheap credit and my choice of a tipple is Dom Perignon or Chateaux Margaux. Or Lafite on a bad night.

Eat your heart out!!

Bad Grammar

Its YOU who should wake up. The parties over.
By the way, it should be "The party's over". Parties is plural and the grammatically correct expression would, therefore, be "The parties ARE over". Pleased to assist with the (Lack of) education the USSR provides.

Lafite

We won at last! We all will have Lafite on bad days
AH, but which year?

Actually, the translation was incorrect. It actually says " On a GOOD day, we will all drink the cheap cr*p that comes from Eastern Europe and which we have been told is called wine, because we don't know any different"

Looking at the AZ website, the following notice has been there, (unchanged !!!) for over 2 weeks:

05/09/2008
Information to Customers
Alitalia will continue to operate flights in accordance with its schedules, honouring reservations and tickets, and maintaining its Frequent Flyer Scheme and all other Customer Service programs.

I wonder how many people actually book flights on AZ these last 2 weeks? Do they live in some sort of dream world, and do they believe the above notice? If potential AZ customers have been remotely aware of what's happening, then AZ could well close and no-one outside the company would notice.....

I'll play your little game - if only to demonstrate your foolishness even further.

Bali is a tourist island. When the tourism dries up - as it soon will - you better have some high walls and heavy friends to keep you safe when the impoverished locals come looking for bread.

Hopefully you aren't keeping yourself in yachts and champagne by dint of a pension - your portfolio is in the toilet and the flush cycle has just started.

Is your cash in a bank perhaps? Safe as Lehmans or MS no doubt.
You'll be fine.

If half of your drivel were true, you'd be a lot less smug than you are, because you'd have the cop on to realise you aren't insulated from reality. The wolf is at your door too.

Incidentally - the working people who laboured to make people like you rich are sufferring already, and they will soon see an even worse situation develop. When that happens, perhaps they'll come and hunt you down. Take back some of what is theirs. People like you have had it too good, and have taken more than you need. Those days are gone you greedy b'stard.

PS. You probably live in a bedsit in Luton and play MS Flight Sim all night.

Also on their website:

As a result of inaccurate news reports, Alitalia wishes to confirm the possibility of
booking and purchasing tickets, through all ticket-issuing systems of the Company.
Reminding passengers that all flights are operating regularly.
