TCX/ WW

BRS get a new based airline/aircraft- Viking...what do CWL get?.... WW operating TCXs FAO,PMI and MAH!! Nothing new/extra but a route merger!

However, could this mean WW operating an extra part or full time 4th aircraft? With TCX operating these routes on their A321 this year I would have thought they could fill the WW 733 with just TCX pax?

Also will WW have to offer an enhanced inflight service to TCX passengers- you get a trayed meal on the TCX but only a warmed up sarnie on the WW? Seems a strange partnership- a respected (quality?)hol company using a locost airline with certainly no frills!
Any observations?

All this means is instead of TCX paying a lot of money to sub-charter the route they have decided to come under an agreement with WW to be able to sell seats on their flights.

WW do not have IFE on their flights, and i doubt we will see any extra a/c at CWL unless on a W pattern as WW have no extra aircraft on order and unless another base us underperforming on on many routes. The only other option for IFE is if a mainline aircraft is brought in to operate the route on behalf of WW.

If we do see extra FAO etc it will be at the expence of another route.

But surely they would have used thier own TCX aircraft as is the case this year which is not a subcharter?

What have WW loads been like this summer filling their aircraft with own passengers to these routes? Hope the extra capacity loads from the WW/TCX share next year arent going to make people go across the bridge because of a lack of seats at CWL!?

Will WW have to offer TCX paasengers a proper in flight meal....especially if you are paying up front for this when booking your TCX holiday?

Some good news! WW restarting IBZ from Cardiff on the 17th July. 2 times a week. Suppose it shows some commitment as it is exclusivley from CWL

WW / TCX Charters

Regards Thomas Cook using WW from CWL, they already do this from EMA to AGP and ALC and i think they are extending the partnership for next year summer too. Thomas Cook also uses LS flights on various routes. As they are such short flights people are not going to be botherd about the lack of IFE and even on TCX flights you only get a meal if you pre-order one, so this option will not be given at the time of booking on these type of flights. Afterall Thomas cook are still providing the essentials of the package holiday, giving you the flight, transfers and accomodation.

I think its a good partnership as it almost always fills up the aircraft and gives Thomas Cook the opportunity to exapand onto other routes that are achieving higher capacity on their own aircraft, such as Egypt and Turkish destinations this year.

TCX/WW

TCX also using WW AGP for Summer 2010. Good for TCX as they have never sold AGP from CWL. Bit more choice for pax and possiblity for taking some pax from BRS as TCX AGP operates there.

TCX/WW Summer '10

What will the CWL based TCX be doing whilst WW are doing these flights for them (accepting that AGP is new). Any new destinations?

This is great news for Cardiff and something the airport can really capitalise on. However, it will take some initiative by the Airport owners, the WAG and the Wales Tourist Board to come up with a way of selling this to airlines. If South Wales is a small catchment area then CWL should be looking at attracting airlines who can bring in tourists. We have a great City and Country to offer, we just need somebody with a bit of initiative to bring it all together. If Ireland and Scotland can do it then so can the Welsh. It is now our turn....

I drive trains in Wales, and can assure you that most of these tourists use the rails to enter the dump of a city!
Its amazing how much of a connection the assembly have with the welsh rail network, and how much they fund the whole industry.

I spent 5 years working at CWL and BRS, and now see a whole different perspective regarding tourism.

Sadly, trains are going to pick up the majority of any tourism boost into Wales......and I mean sadly....I am wings through and through...

Oh, and I cant believe the CWL v BRS thing still takes place on here. Having worked at both, I can assure you BRS management are far far far more pro-active towards airlines and their potential business.....the Cardiff bod's have always had a strangely ignorant attitude towards the people carrier's. That's why my airline pulled out and concentrated over the river.....

I'm sure about 2 or 3 years ago there was a charter from Switzerland that came in to CWL on a weekly basis throughout the summer and only lasted for that particular summer season. Who got them here in the first place? Can't management at CWL try to recapture that? Do they really care?

Ouch. The 22:15 flight to Bodrum tonight is delayed until 10:15 tomorrow because the arrival is 12 hours late. Can't be many happy passengers who turned up at CWL this evening!

As the aircraft has not yet landed in Manchester (which is where it was due to land this morning) surely the tour operator / airline could have told passengers to not even bother turning up until tomorrow morning - this would save them putting passengers up in a hotel!?!?
