Flowery beds
Noticed the Emcor chap strimming around the flags and flower/weed bed today(the beautiful doc leave, rape seed oil, stingy nettle delight for all to see), then more noticeably strimming the weeds along the kerb edge. Using a state-of-the-art-strimmer with no cutting guard, warning signs or consideration for those around him, projectiles i.e. loose gravel etc. sprayed at a fair rate of knots in all directions. Problem was a broken taxi window, damaged stone chipped glass, and several stone chip paint hits on the taxis in the process! The taxi drivers were not happy. LUCKILY, no one was hit, struck or BLINDED by this delicate piece of horticulture!
To top it off, he then used a "petrol blower" to create a lovely POLLEN/DUST storm in the vicinity of his work?
What happened to the good old brush and hands on gardening approach???
Chelsea Flower Show were not

Mr. Phillips....
Saw memo to all staff re above from Duffy. Moved on ''to pursue his career outside of the aviation sector''.
SERIOUS WARNING:- If Emcor are let loose airside with the strimmers (unguarded) be worried, very worried - - saw the damage inflicted on Checkers today inflicted by cutting the weeds from 25-30 foot away. Broken car windows X2, paint chipped etc - as TagTop rightly said it's lucky nobody got injured - badly. Quite honestly, the guy was bloody dangerous to man and machine... say no more.

What does "sector" mean? Not necessarily completely out of the industry. Look at his background on the original appointment press release and there's more on the web. CWL was no step up, it seems. Anyone know what his mate, the former MD, is up to? Out of the "sector"? What have these people got in mind? Buy-out? Buy-in? What would TBI do with an offer for CWL?
Should the 30-year plan be revised? Has Cardiff's position changed in the past year so that it needs another look? What would be the price for CWL today?

Sorry if I am being a little naive here - but looking at the arrivals board of CWL and BRS for today, it seems as if BRS is handling as many arrivals for the rugby as CWL is? BRS is choco at the best of times....how are they managing to take all that extra? Couldnt CWL,which even on a saturday in summer isnt exactly busy compared to BRS,fit in any more? Couldnt imagine that happeneing the other way around!

Some of the Albertis staff are under redundancy situations right now...so be prepared for some more "left to persue other career" notices!
As for this evening, the airport have played the sensible card as last time they allowed every flight to come in for a Munster rugby airlift it was frankly uncomfortable at best, dangerous at worst!
Can't wait to see security this evening....maybe the queue will reach Tesco car park around 11pm!!
...off to work I go with an extra jar of coffee to keep me awake

Bristol was a hive of activity around Noon with the extra charters. Rarely seen it so busy on the ground in the middle of the day. Fair to say that ATC and the ground handlers were doing an excellent job. The volume of pax moving around the apron was possibly a record to my eye.
Not sure how the terminal and baggage reclaim were coping but the new scanners and carousels had been brought on line last week so maybe it was OK. Lack of seats in the terminal is now probably the more pressing issue. Nice problem to have.
Why Cardiff can't be like this is a mystery and always will be.

BRS will be busy, as I guess is Swansea. Charter operators trying to avoid CWL due to massive hike in parking fees. Those operating through CWL will be in for a surprise when they get the bill!! Well done Cardiff.

In defence of CWL, this evening:
CWL has 36 departures between 2000-0140 (3 are normal operating flights)
BRS has 24 departures between 2000-0240 (5 are normal operating flights)
BRS already has the stand layout and coaching setup over CWL.
Its going to be chaos, no matter how organised things are.
But hopefully everyone at CWL can pull it off.

An ATC colleague told me that the BRS method was to use rotations whereas CWL would use parking; thereby limiting CWL capacity. Some would say..clever BRS!
