Why would you want to go over the bridge? If you did you'll find that BRS only offers departures to FUE on a WED. Same for EMA/GLA/HUY/LTN
Of course you could fly from BHX on a sat with TCX or FCA. But you wouldnt arrive back in the uk until gone midnight, then have to face hotel costs or a 2hr+ drive back to wales in the early hours? By that time you'd be tucked up in bed ready for work on Thursday if you flew into CWL
Both of these flights are being offered by completely different tour operators, yes it would be nice to provide more choice, but as LSG has pointed out above, its a perfectly logical decision.
TCX will only be part basing the a/c. The a/c may be required to operate a route from another airport on the saturday, which is why its only at CWL SUN-WED.
TOM havent operated to FUE in the summer for a while. They picked it up a few years back during the winter after MYT pulled out.

I think it's only in the past year or so that TOM have had flights to FUE from CWL in the summer. I think Airtours/Mytravel did it for a few years tho, but stand corrected if I'm wrong

Winter 08/09 - FUE - Tom v Tcx
I have a feeling the TCX winter FUE flight will be operated by an airbus while TOM will use a 737. If this is the case, if the two TOM & TCX flights are combined TCX will probably win. What do you think?

Hi May 23rd is going to be busy, but it is a great shame that the airport isnt going to be nusy every day of the year.
There is great potential in South Wales for people who want to travel, doesnt anyone in the principality want to visit the sunshine state!!! I am sure that even a fortnightly rotation would be better than what we have at the moment. Zoom seem to be investing heavily in the Canadian operation I wonder would they consider Mco???
Come on Cardiff, Bristol is only one hour away speak to the people and find out what they want not what the The operators want to maximise their profits and margins!!

TOM v TCX
I think it's probably too early to speculate whether TOM or TCX will "come out on top" or if they can operate the flights side by side. Flight times can change so will be interesting to see what will happen. At the end of the day though it is down to pax and whether they buy the available seats. BY and AIH used to run TFS, LPA and ACE side by side over the winter months (before they consolidated).

Airport advises carriers to use alternative Airports for weekend
Cardiff Airport has officially closed it's doors to any more carriers wishing to fly to the airport for the heineken cup final weekend 23 may - 25 may.
Request has been sent to ACL advising carriers that they should seek and alternate destination.
What is the final number of charter flights for both Aviance and Servisair and how many rotations for each a/c type?
It is a shame that the airport has got to keep turning airlines away on these big events.
Cheers

I have just been looking at the airport website and been laughing at the where we fly map.
Did you know that Tenerife, Newquay and Malta were all in Noth America and Canada destinations.lol.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seen some posts taken down to echoe yesterday which im gathering will mean the errection of the Temporary car park again, i'm hoping that they will wait untill after the heineken cup to errect it as it will take away some space at the GA parking area.
I can't understand why they don't create a permanent increased facility of parking as this is becoming an inconvenience and reduces the amount of larger diversions, as a/c will not be able to Taxi up F and then around on to E in order for them to be nose out when ready.
Engine runs will also be restricted due to the car park.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Any ideas on the Hawk which did an emergency landing a week ago will be removed? I bet the airport doesn't want that there for the heineken cup.

I believe the local authority/council oppose the spreading of car parks outwards from the airport. The option open to the airport is upwards, multi-storey. But we all know that if Cardiff can get away with a temporary solution then thats the way they go everytime(probably like most airports). Hence the years back we got called to fences that had been blown onto/into cars parked in the old stand 1 area. So at least they attach them to the ground nowadays

Report on the 1st year anniversary for the Highland CWL-VLY route.
The route has been a success. But now the subsidy is coming under fire after an article in the South Wales Echo regarding tax payers paying an average subsidy of £84 per person. When the flights are only selling at an average of about £45.
Environmentalists are sticking their noses in as usual saying train/bus journeys are a better option and the funding should go there.

In an ideal world a train option would be brilliant. However, mid Wales, as you all know if very hilly so the route has to go outside of Wales into England and then back into Wales again. Depending on where you live in Wales it is probably easier to catch the train to Cardiff. If on the other hand you live in NW Wales and need to get to SE Wales then the easier option, and quickest, is by air.
The train service is awful (as is the bus) and God help you if you're driving through mid Wales behind a tractor etc.
I think the airlink should stay as it serves a purpose and I really don't think it makes much (if any) impact on the environment. That's my opinion, for what it's worth

The route could be operated profitably without the subsidy. At least going on the number of passengers carried by the airline on the route to date.
From what I can gather, they are looking at introducing a midday service and even possibly looking at operating a weekend service. However, this would be dependent on operating more routes out of Ynys Mon in order to have a permanently based civilan ATC.
DUB and a route to Scotland (most likely Edinburgh) seem likely future routes.
Good news about the flights for the Heineken Cup on the 24th May (I will be at attendnace for the match), should make the airport extremely busy. Not to mention the current summer schedule that will be operating too.
Does anyone have any further information on future BMIbaby and/or Flybe expansion at Cardiff? As has been said before, PRG needs to be reinstated as the route performed very well. I'm sure that will happen in the near future. I hope that Baby keep going with WAW as that seems to be performing better than GDN from what I hear. Anyone else hearing the same about that particular route?

BmiBaby flights to Gdansk are to be cancelled, Warsaw not doing to badly.
Havent heared any rumour of BmiBaby pullin out of Cardiff yet. Was always informed that Cardiff earn't BmiBaby a lot of money, especially with excess luggage as even though they have the least number of a/c throughout the winter it seemed as if we were taking more.
Looks like the fence has allready been errected for the extended temporary car park, i'm sure that in the masterplan for 2015 it showed a 2nd tier on top of the current car park

I see the rumour mill is still going strong regarding WW, In my opinion I do not think WW will shut down CWl or any other base as yet looking at their performance and considering they are quite risk aversive. If anything were to happen to WW the likely hood is it will be absorbed into BMI or regional would take over some of the routes or in fact become the new WW, It's always been hard to predict WW stability because we don’t see separate financial reports etc for them, I'll take everything regarding them with a pinch of salt until concrete evidence comes about.
