Nice.

Isn't it amazing how the chinese whispers creep in all the time. My wife came home at lunch time and said someone had told her there was a 'crash' at the city airport!!!!!

a bust tyre, not even on landing but during the taxi!!!!

OMG!!!!

Thanks for the info folks on CO to Newark...

...so the chances of getting AVOD are climbing almost as quickly as the chances of getting DVT!

On a separate issue, I broke my own rule this weekend about never using Ryanair again...4 flights to take me from BHD to LRH via STN...this time never again! Shot down four times, with a particularly scary one into LRH...incessant jingles trying to sell me things I didn't want, hosties I couldn't understand (and who looked nothing like the girl of the month in the inflight magazine), the usual cattle market to get on the thing, and the cherry on the cake, a self congratulatory trumpet call on arrival to announce that we were early...very proud of Mrs NWSRG who suggested that we were early because one and a half hours was allowed for a one hour flight! Although a 738 does look pretty impressive close up, even in FR colours.

(Why do they not let you walk under the wing when you get off at the back? I can understand avoiding the engines, but if they're that worried about something falling off, then why let me fly on it? )

Congrats though to BHD...they have clearly upped their game when it comes to security queues...much more civilised these days.

PS. Cheeky advertising opportunity...BMW 320td Sport for sale (2003)...PM me for details!

Hi all,
I think CityJet will still Fly in and out of there. As far as I was told today, they won't have any night stopping Aircraft there anymore.

Summer 2009

To amend my post 1341 re Corfu and Rhodes. Obtained the Thomas Cook brochure and appears both these destinations are staying, although still not available to book online.

Couple of quick questions...

Anybody any details of the Aer Lingus winter schedule being fully announced, after allegedly being cancelled due to the situation relating to the 5 euro fares to USA??

Just read on the Newcastle thread (I think) about Onur reducing the number of flights this summer to Turkey, potentially lack of aircraft, or poor sales at Goldtrail. How is this affecting BFS flights, if at all??

M-R-A. Hopefully Cityjet will be staying, I'd trust you're more in the know than I. Just heard that from early May, Cityjet dropping the afternoon rotation, followed by complete pull out on 23rd. Are loads still sporadic??

Would anyone be able to post a full charter timetable for this summer for BFS?

There must be quite a demand for the Dalaman or Bourgas flights if they need a a300. They only have 7, 5 of which are a300-600's and they serve many big airports

Belfast Int Investment Conference.

The above is taking place in Belfast the 7-9th of May.

I understand there will be a big US presence including the CEOs of US banks. Presumably that implies many Biz jets are due in. Will they go to BFS or BHD? Presumably there is more parking at BFS?. Not sure where in Northern Ireland the meeting is taking place. Any information would be greatly appreciated as planning to fly out on the 8th of May from EMA to BHD with ryr. Thank you for any information.

Galaxys at BFS...

Folks,

Maybe some of our BFS regulars can help me here...

I have a vivid memory of a fleet of C5 Galaxys arriving at BFS one afternoon in the mid-eighties...I was at school, and we were fairly close to the flight path into BFS. Our PE teacher even asked us what "those monsters are"...it must have been 85/86 or thereabouts, and from memory, about 5 or 6 Galaxys followed one another into BFS over the course of about 15 or 20 minutes...

Can anyone remember such an event? Maybe they were regular visitors? It seemed strange to see so many in convoy. It was probably around the time that Cruise missiles were making much news in GB!

Don't recall them in the mid eighties. The first time I saw C5's at BFS was for te first presidential visit....and then for every visit thereafter. I recall one making a missed approach and disapearring over the terminal building before going downwind left for 07...it looked like the Queen Mary. Perhaps thats what you remember?(someone else can google Presidential Visits to BFS)

Thanks Eastern, but no, definitely mid-eighties...was wondering if perhaps they were Starlifters, but a group of spotty teenage airplane anoraks all agreed on the day that they were Galaxys! And at the distance that we seen them at, the scale suggested C5s...

...and I wouldn't have minded seeing that go-around...no doubt many windows rattling in our little terminal!

FlyGlobespan 08/09

From the FlyGlobespan thread, it would appear that the Glasgow - Sanford flights are down to one a week for the winter. Also on the website, Belfast is only on sale up to the end of the summer flying season.

I would take it that no direct flight then from BFS to Florida for the winter, or do you think these may be available for booking in the near future?? Its a shame to have lost a route, esp a transatlantic.

Galaxys at BFS

NWSRG

If my memory serves me correctly it was only one C5A but it made multiple ILS approaches to runway 25 on a training flight detail. It was a lovely sunny afternoon for a change and I witnessed a few RAF Aldergrove personnel dashing outside with cameras to take photographs of this unexpected event.
A colleague of mine compared the jet engine noise to the sound of swarms of bees inside oil drums.

Cool

If you want to travel from the north to Orlando without the uncertainty of some charter flight, Aer lingus fly direct from Dub to Orlando 4 times a week in summer and 3 times a week in winter. They are having a sale at the moment and you can check in from home.

Galaxy at BFS...

With Alacrity,

Thanks for that! Often wondered why those beasts were there that day...alas it was only one, and we weren't witnessing a major military deployment after all!

Thanks for the info.
