If the numbers of passengers carried on the STN to BHD route as posted on this site a few days ago are correct, is the carrier not exceeding the number they are permitted to carry on each flight? I thought MOL stated they were limited to a max of 140 but can't recall if it was in or outbound.

Whilst not exactly airline or airport related, does anyone know why a Red Arrow was flying low over Belfast at lunchtime today! Didnt see it myself but it certinly sounded like a military jet and also heard Red 10 on the airband.

Why would a single Red Arrow be flying over Belfast?

Perhaps by deciding to maintain the military presence in Iraq longer than he intended the Priminister has had to make the MOD budget cutbacks in other areas. What you saw was the new Red Arrow display team.

EXS327 from Leeds Bradford did a go-around on Rw17 at BFS this evening at around 1850hrs - this AFTER it and EZY83MP had broken-off final approach to Rw25.

EXS327 called a fuel emergency after go-around off Rw17 causing the EZY to break-off again to allow him to have another go. After much twisting and turning over mid-Antrim all are down safely now.

Weather to blame I assume???

ATC do NOT use the 2 letter prefix. EXS is Jet2 callsign CHANNEX.

Just checking the cost of flights ex Stn to Belfast this Thursday evening. I see that Easyjet are about £110 cheaper than Ryanair. I know who I would rather pay my money to and it's not the blue machine. Even Ei are cheaper out of Lhr.

The Ryanair flight is probably just nearly full, and the Easyjet and Aer Lingus flights are emptier.

Aer Lingus winter 08/09

Quote from the Ulster Star newspaper:

AN even greater choice of destinations is on the cards at Belfast International Airport after Aer Lingus revealed it will announce as many as three new direct services from the airport in the coming weeks.

The airline's commercial director Enda Corneille said the new services, including one to 'somewhere slightly different' will commence when the 2008/2009 winter timetable starts at the end of October.

Mr. Corneille also explained his airline was talking to a number of airports in Europe about new services to Aldergrove.

"We still have a very high proportion of business starting in Northern Ireland so we will certainly be on the lookout for routes that generate inbound business which balances up the economics of the base," he added.

"We are looking at perhaps adding a route which will have very strong inbound business as well as a route which is to somewhere slightly different."

I wonder where???

The 'different' seems to be Iceland most of the time.

Not sure where there would be alot of inbound traffic from? Harare?

Would Belfast - St Johns, Newfounland or Halifax, Nova Scotia be within range of the EI A320s - getting back to Belfast early in the am with the same aircraft flying on to LHR? Would be a fairly seamless connection for the Newfoundlanders now that the AC A319s are gone.

Iceland - fits in nicely sector length wise which is one good thing going for it but just dont see it. It would be a lot of hard work from scratch to get going, not impossible mind if EI were ready to put a lot of dough into it.

Guess, there is always Cork! Even now a few years removed from the drama still think Jet2 missed a good opportunity on BFS-ORK when it was mooted.

EI might also consider an obvious Ryanair airport just for a laugh!?

So does this mean that Belfast will get a fourth airbus or is it to be achieved by cutting existing routes? There is an aircraft due in June and there has been no major expansion of services announced from Cork or Dublin. I would have thought it was a bit early for going up to four, but who knows...
