Such a shame that one of the S2000s couldn't fit in a LCY - NQY hop really.

50 seats would be about right for the route.

I agree that it likes like a second S2000 as IOM is still bookable from September. It looks like a good way for BACF to launch or operate thinner routes and gives Eastern more work.

Either IOM being dropped or more likely a 2nd eastern leased Saab joining the fleet.
On a German forum, a usually reliable source has posted info that IOM-LCY will change to an E70 at a reduced frequency. Anyone able to confirm?

LCY

IOM to be operated 1x daily on an E170.
Saab to move over to the DUS route.

I sincerely hope you're wrong on this RJ100. LCY is undoubtedly the most important business route to/from the IOM and everyone breathed a sigh of relief when BA picked it up and made it run properly. The only other London connection is LGW, and that will be mid-day flights with EZ after BE pull out next year.

Sorry M-JCS, I think RJ100 is right: BA CityFlyer Reduces London City - Isle of Man Service from Sep 2013

It seems IOM is gone for winter. IOMLCY is still bookable but not LCYIOM. Anyway the route wouldn't survive with one frequency.

We are also disappointed that they are cutting back IOM.
There is talk of returning to more flights when BE pull out.
But for that we'll have to wait and see.

London City - Angers

On a trip to Angers in the Loire Valley, flying BACF on the LCY-ANE sector.
I knew Angers was a small airport but didn't expect it to be quite so small - just 5 commercial passenger seasonal round trips per week - 2 to London, 2 to Nice and 1 to Tunisia. BA were selling entry level fares until 2 days before flight. CAA stats show about 50 pax per flight in July. Angers Govt provide a *free* bus between city centre and airport (about 20 miles away). Can only assume local Govt is desperate to get some UK tourists visiting.

Looks like there is some hefty marketing payment from local Govt to BA

Are there any other short haul routes from LCY with a similiar setup ? (I think Dundee is just a Govt subsidy to the airport with no cash passing to airlines)
Anyone know how much BA get from Govt on the route per passenger ? Seen a figure of 90 euros per pax per one way flight but this seems very high

Air Berlin

Any insiders like to comment ? Thought you already codeshared ?

Air Berlin rumoured to be eyeing London City using modded A319s

27AUG2013
Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel) is rumoured to be keen on starting flights to London City using their A319-100s. However, owing to the airport's limitations, the aircraft will require some modifications prior to being approved for the service. It is believed the German carrier also intends to boost its European network coverage through a codeshare agreement with BA CityFlyer (CJ, London City). The airline has declined to comment on the rumours. Currently Air Berlin serves London Stansted from Dusseldorf.

Which begs the question why BA ordered two oddball A318s if they could have used a A319. A genius at work at AB?

If they wanted to fly to LCY why aren't they already doing so with Q400's?

I was surprised by this report at ch-aviation because it's the first time I've seen any indication of A319s being able to operate in LCY. If there is any truth to it, then I'd guess that Airbus is perhaps now offering a steep-approach mod for the A319 which previously it wasn't.

I think if AB do fly to LCY it will be using one of there fleet of E190 or DH4. With the E190 being the most likely in my opinion.

If this does happen then I would expect to see AB start flights under codeshare agreement with BACF to BER and MUC and possibly see AB take over the DUS route. This would free up the S2000 to either be returned to T3 or open up another route to somewhere like HAM.

Well, if BACF can only fill E70s and E90s from LCY, I doubt that AB of all airlines can fill 150 seaters (assumed that the A319 can be used). It would also be useful for AB to have in mind that Lufthansa has operated from LCY to DUS, HAM, TXL, MUC, NUE, FMO in the past and was unable to fill 50 seaters to those destinations.
