It's definitely 3 new machines.

It amazes me that BIG brother BA guys don't see Cityflyer creeping into their London manopoly. ALL the routes Cityflyer are on, or going to be, are ALL served by BIG BA.

They do say anyone can eat an Elephant. It just takes loads of small bites !!!!!!!

Are BA's BALPA guys blind?

It was a huge worry at the time of the consolidation of CFE and BRT. There is a SCOPE agreement which limits the number of seats CFE can have in their aircraft, which is why the seat pitch in the ER9s is so luxurious. However what BA have not dared to try yet is to allow comparably poorly paid Embraer crews to fly on BA services out of LHR or LGW. That would be the game changer, as it is, LCY is just growth.

Some posters seem to be missing the point.
Florence, Granada, Isle of Man, Menorca & some Regional French ones.
Hardly the core business. Perhaps I should have mentioned EVERY single route by route to get my point across.
They also do fear of flying, Northern Lights flights and VIP charters, Football team charters etc etc etc, which doesn't impact on BIG BA.

Yes SOE. It is just growth, but ask why BIG BA management are allowing it. Much cheapness. BIG BA managers want CF to grow as much as possible for the reason you say.
poorly paid Embraer crews to fly on BA services
CF will never harm BA simply because of the size difference. However my point stands. CF are (Mainly, for deeice ) nibbling away at BAs routes and 'British Airways Line Pilots Association' are letting them get away with it.

Rotterdam - NEW 25 x weekly service will begin 30th March 2014. Flights will be operated by the 50 seater S2000 leased from T3 that is currently used to operate the DUS service

Stockholm - Frequency increase from 11 to 16 x weekly introduced at the start of W13/14 will continue to operate throughout S14, with the exception of between 6th July and 30th August when the route will be temporarily suspended. BACF suspended the route during the same period and for the same amount of time during S13.

Venice - Frequency reduced to 3 x weekly (ops days 2,4,6) from 30th March 2014. Flights operated up to 6 x weekly S13.

What we are doing is on certain London to Europe routes is possibly freeing up a LHR short haul slot for BA to replace with a Long Haul. Which if anything will increase the number of pilots needed. Last time we checked a LH frame requires more pilots than a SH.
BACF E190's do not have the capacity to replace an A319 for example.

Sounds like you're trying to scaremonger and stir the pot.

Does anyone know if the Dusseldorf change will result in the S2000 going back to 3xdaily IOM-LCY service, which many IOM residents are hoping will happen given the abandonment of IOM-LGW by FlyBe?
Thanks

The Saab 2000 is being used on the new LCY-RTM I believe.

BACF and the Embraer fleet would be an ideal replacement for BAs LGW domestic operation (and some European routes).

B734 fleet almost at the end of their 'BA' life, with current plans to replace them with A320s not exactly going to be cheap.

BA have confirmed the return of the IOM-LCY route three times daily from S14. Any ideas what aircraft will operate, seeing as the S20 is going to Rotterdam. Nightstop an E170?

Unlikely. Most likely an early rotation out of the City and back...No doubt heavily subsidised by the Manx Govt......

Tying up an Embraer for a whole day (which is what 3 rotations on this basis would do) with unattractive timings to boot (can't leave LCY before 0700, and there's not much market for outbound from LCY at 0700 anyway) sounds remarkably expensive. If the 3/daily rumour is true I'd be more inclined to suspect a Dornier 328 from SunAir, another Saab 2000, or something similar in the 50-seats-or-less range.

Why unlikely? The vast majority of the CFE fleet night stops away from LCY as did the Saab 2000? If they are serious about taking the flybe market then a night stopper is a good bet.

BACF will launch a 3 x weekly scheduled service from EDI to IBZ starting 23rd May 2014 with flights running through until 7th September 2014

The schedule is less than appealing though

BA8890 EDI 22:35 IBZ 02:35 E90 357
BA8991 IBZ 03:35 EDI 05:40 E90 146

Flights are available to book through ba.com and will offer both Euro Traveller and Club Europe Products.

Those are very unappealing times, remember i had a flight with Thomson from Turkey a couple of years ago with similar arrival time back to the UK and after the flight i felt like i needed another holiday, i was knackered by the time i arrived at my door.

but suppose some people might like the night flight.

Good plan if you ask me, as it will make use of an aircraft that would otherwise sit idle on the ground overnight.

I wonder if we might see the same or similar ex GLA ?
