BA Mainline Pilots did see this happening, in 2007 when CityFlyer was formed. Its called the scope agreement. ANY BA Aircraft operating out of LGW or LHR has to be operated by a BA mainline pilot. The MAN shuttles operated a few weeks ago were given an exemption from this.

The Sims used are at Oxford aviation near LGW.

BA8702 LCY-EDI seems to attract regular transfer traffic from the BA8760 ZRH-LCY flight. It just so happens that the plane flying ZRH-LCY is the same one operating LCY-EDI, usually with the same crew. I bet passengers wish they could stay on the plane, but unfortunately they have to clear immigration & customs.

LCY really doesn't need a lounge, unlike LHR & LGW, with a 20 minute checkin you don't need to be spending ages in the airport. Passengers on BA1 & BA3 can go straight to the gate where they'll find a lounge.

How is the IOM service going on the leased S2000 ?

Any chance that we could see Cityflyer at NQY for a daily or x weekly service at some stage ?

According to IOM Airport figures for July, which was the first full month of the Saab service, pax were up 6% on the previous July, with a backdrop of IOM figures overall, down by 2%.

From the same figures, LF can be estimated at 60%+.

August figures are still to be released.

From observation of the day to day activity, service appears to be much more reliable than in RE's final months, when it rather fell to bits.

Any reason the new Venice service is using a "Speedbird" callsign? That's a first for the "Flyers".

Not a usual event. It usually happens as a simple mistake by the flight planning dpt.
It has happened in the past. When we started the winter LCY-GVA flights are fews years ago most Sunday flights operated with a Speedbird call sign.

IOM website shows figure as 4235, up 9.4%. Still healthy, but different to your % increase. That's against a backdrop of 3% down on IOM as a whole.

My figure came from the CAA stats for August...not sure why they are different to the IOM Airport stats. 3793 is the figure shown for August 2011..presumably the IOM figure is greater giving the smaller % increase. The figures I quote are under the London City heading.

Don't wish to be party to too much thread drift, but IOM show the August 3870, as you suggested it would, which explains the higher % rise. Not sure why IOM and CAA would be reporting different numbers.

A new FO course starts early 2013 and has already been filled.
There is talk of more courses next year but it depends upon how many of our purchase rights are converted into firm orders. Can't give away the figure as it might reveal our strategy for the future years at L**............

There is a sizeable hold pool of FO's at present experienced and otherwise.
We have started down the dreaded road of MPL too!!
Keep an eye on the jobs page as all recruitment will be notified there first.

@RJ100 "We have started down the dreaded road of MPL too!!"

Care to explain why its a dreaded road? Seems to be the newly accepted best way of training pilots?

Hi all,

What was the reason with SCOPE that CFE were allowed to fill the RJ100s to the gunnels with 110 seats whereas the ERJ190s are restricted to 98 again?
Why weren't the RJ100s so restricted?

Also what was the capacity of the RJ85s? Anyone remember?

Thanks

If I remember rightly the RJ85's could carry a max of 87 pax.

The RJ100's were delivered initially to Cityflyer Express in the 110 seat configuration.

The RJ100 in it's 110 seater config was no a problem when BACF began ops at LCY. They only experienced problems with the RJ100's performance when they started doing the MAD service. BACF added the RJ85 to the fleet to try and address some of these problems.

There was an exemption in the scope agreement which allowed the RJ100's to be operated up to a certain date. After that date we either had to stop operating them or they had to be operated by mainline pilots.
