CORK - 5
Hi re the above comment any word on Cork Dublin route starting up again??
Also I've been trying to book a flight from cork to AMS and onwards and according to the KLM booking App the good city of Cork does not exist??? What's that all about?? That's a major loss in connectivity inbound and outbound??
I am really trying my best to only fly from Cork but my word it is hard at times.... Frustrated!

Finished around Christmas 2006 due to direct and indirect competition. Its loads were quite good but that was during the height of the Celtic Tiger era. It remains to be seen whether it will attract the same support in these frugal times. Cork has very little to lose by going after foreign carriers given the present attitude of Ryanair and Aerlingus to the airport.

Good news for a change. Even if it's going to be at a time to suit their network it's the addition to choice and network to Cork that's important. Really cannot understand why Aer Lingus dropped Lisbon and Nice and what looks like to use on Majorca and Munich out of Dublin instead. Surely they don't need increased capacity on these routes?

Any shift in focus by Ryanair could have upsides for Cork. CSA reappearance may just be one of them.
It would seem that Cork Airport are confident that Ryanair won't expand @ Cork and pursue CSA route to Prague.
An Ideal and sustainable future for Cork may be in attracting other airlines who are willing to pay a realistic fee for using the airport.
Have to hand it to CSA , they are brave coming onto FR turf... This route has been tried by a few, and with CSA coming back in would suggest they see potential in the route based on past performance.

When they started in 2003, they had the Central European pitch to themselves. This all changed when Malev, Aerlingus, Central Wings and Wizzair all began services to cities such as Kraków, Budapest, Katowice, Warsaw, Berlin etc.
This probably put pressure on load factors and yields and they withdrew in early 2007 having announced their intentions about 6 months in advance. Of course they were also on full charges by this time which might have also influenced their decision.
Reports indicate that Cork are also close to a deal with another legacy carrier.

I'm not sure if it'd be successful as a point to point route. It had a lot of connecting passengers in the past. Of course it could impact on Aerlingus' particularly in relation to its short haul connecting passengers using its Amsterdam service.
