Will Aer Lingus ever actually have new airframes to expand their services with in short haul? Seems like ages since they received new aircraft.
Bringing back places like Berlin and Prague onto the route network would be great.

There have been some excellent posts on here about Cork in the last day or two and from a consciousness raising point of view it is important and, yes, this is an aviation forum, but it all needs to be uttered again and again on other forms of mediallike other social media, newspapers, radio, TV - not just on here.

The Aer Rianta/DAA/CAA staff have sucked hard on the other tit of state for nearly two generations and they were only ever out for number one and many cared little about the airport. Whatever I may say about the parties at snn at least they were unrelenting in their support for their airport.
Nearly two generations at Cork Airport and the place is in a worse state than ever before and as for the Cork based TDs of Government and Opposition parties - they have all most equally served Cork Airport so appallingly it is just so unbelievable it is beyond credulity.
I hope Cork's new Marketing Manager, Ms Gackowska, knows exactly what she is now dealing with at Cork Airport and it is much more of a basic task than she may realise - doing potential deals with airlines comes down the line, first task might be something like the airport independently securing a High Loader for ad hoc freight flights and a set of steps that can reach a widebody. Nearly twenty years Cork could handle Aer Lingus 747s on Lourdes flights and now in 2014 the airport cannot. Can you believe it! What a farce!
And, it has come to my attention just in the last few days that there may be another unbelievable limiting factor at Cork but for now investigations are in hand.

Munich isn't gone. It has a 6-week hiatus between the end of the summer schedule and the start of the skiing season. It's at lower frequency than last year then.
To be honest, I can't see the point in such a short break. It will just take passengers off the flights in October, making those less viable. Losing those passengers might be justified if you're avoiding 5 months unprofitable flying, but for 6 weeks?

It`s a bit surprising that Lufthansa never started a Frankfurt-Cork service given flights from Cork to other hubs like Amsterdam and London are so successful.
Dublin-Frankfurt Lufthansa A321 services are always packed and given they also fly to Knock, its all the more surprising.

Issue is slots at FRA are like gold, so any route has to make money and to be honest FRA ORK would not be a route LH would see as a big money earner, mainly tourists each way , cargo of course but they like to be sure go high yield traffic and Cork would be down their list, mind you German wings to CGN or MUC would be a runner, much lower costs for those same tourists

Cork has been actively seeking a Frankfurt service for several years and came tantalisingly close to securing one on two occasions most recently in 2012. The cost of operating into this mega hub was a negative factor.

As for Frankfurt I would also think the fact FR are down the road in Kerry I think has a big bearing, nobody wants to draw Fr on to them.
