Ryanair

Hi all,
So what's the story with the second based aircraft for ryanair in cork?
I presume it was staying but a few polish bases to open this winter so perhaps a reverse of those flights?

Hi all,

Doing the rounds there is a possibility of growth ex-Cork this winter for FR.

I really do hope for any little growth at all would be great but then theres this

The routes will make up Ryanair’s winter schedule from Cork are London Stansted, London Gatwick, Liverpool, Lanzarote, Wroclaw, Gdansk and Vilnius.

Looks like a one plane roster to me, but not sure. Perhaps next year when there are more planes delivered, then more routes. Typical ryanair trying to play hardball.

There's unlikely to be a shortage of frames over the winter though; so there'd be no need to wait for more.

Typical of FR to predict dooms day whilst still in discussions, although going by the CAAs track record that will probably come to fruition. Thank god I'm out of that place now, hope the staff there in Cork are holding up well.

Anita Gackowska (Previously AENA) has been appointed Head of Aviation Marketing whilst Kevin Cullinane has been appointed Head of Communications. Nice coup for Cork.

Be careful what you wish for Jack, AENA has been torn to shreds over the last few years, hated by the Spanish public and working conditions have been savaged. The old boys were the best paid controllers in the world, the new ones are amongst the worst.

Great to see a bit of variety at ORK yesterday. 717, 757, Avro RJ85 etc. Also, great to see variety on the arrivals boards with the likes of Milan and Pisa among others.

Heard that the new Aviation Marketing Director is starting work at Cork this week. I wish her the very best of luck with her efforts. Cork has lost almost one third of its traffic since 2008 and has been in negative growth each year since then.

What chance can she have when Ryanair can come in and dump thousands of free seats on routes to force competition out ? Not to mention having to deal with the suits running the place....

The first crisis for the new Marketing Manager at Cork Airport was not long in coming - it looks like the middle of the day EI713/4 which as a Dublin based aeroplane and operates LHR-ORK-LHR is ending from the end of June, 2014.

In recent weeks the flight has been regularly operated by A319 aircraft rather than A320 so the early bookings must have been on the poor side and with one of the Ryanair Stansted rotations being dropped for July and August it does not too good for Cork, does it?

Too many cheap tickets on Dublin - London?

The Dublin Airport Authority has achieved a lot more in the destruction of Cork Airport than Shannon could ever have done and many of you will be familiar with how I have given out and complained about that over the years.

For sure, the Dublin Airport Authority has the blood of Cork Airport on it's grubby hands tonight?

I'm not sure what this has to do with the Dublin Airport Authority Tom? Probably more to do with the two tier performance of the Irish Economy and also due to the fact that Cork seems to be unable to attract enough inbound visitors and so is over dependant on Cork people flying out of their local airport.

The number of long haul flights available from Dublin to America and the MIddle East may also be affecting the numbers travelling long haul from Cork via LHR.

I think there is a bigger issue with EI in Cork! 1- I've been on this flight a few times and it's always been full, so maybe it's just the yield isn't good enough? 2- EI's pricing strategy in Cork seems to be incredibly off! The are releasing flights at very high prices, in comparison to competitors, and then having to discount as the day of departure approaches in an attempt to try and fill, which in many cases it's too late as people would have made other arrangements be it through dub or another carrier! I don't know EI's revenue management set up, but it strikes me that they don't appear to have someone focussed on Cork, or the person that should be focused on Cork is a little weak in their position

The fifth daily flights will still operate on Fridays until 30 September. The 319 going on the flight is only because of BFS getting second 320 based. Hard to judge if its reflective loads from Cork or they are pulling it to restore the capacity lost by the 319 taking on some DUB-LHR flights instead.
