You talk about taking each of my points in turn but all you have actually done is focus on one comment I made about using MAN.
I'm not sure where you got a £13.50 hackney cab from but a private hire from a similar location where I live costs around £14. This contrasts with £8.30 for a train to MAN.
The train takes 45 minutes and by the time I've to waited for/hunted down a taxi this is usually the quicker option.
At least arriving at MAN at 4.35 I know Im going to be on a 6am departure, something which is impossible if I'm flying from LPL.

Thats your opinion and you are entitled to it. My opinion based on my own experiences (I am a frequent flyer) is completely different. Furthermore, as I keep stressing my point is that LPL does not have sufficient early morning public transport connections. It used to. Why have they been withdrawn? My own personal preference to jump on the early morning train to MAN is symptomatic of this but it is ultimately a side issue.
I've got to say that having read through this thread, many people seem to be caught up in some sort of local rivalary between Liverpool and Manchester. I couldn't care less where an airport is or what it's called. I just want to be able to get to my destination cheaply with the minimal of fuss.

Just on a seperate note, what happened to the new easyjet route to Lyon? seems to have dissapeared in both the booking engine and route map?
It was there last night on the route map when I was delving into the site looking for this new route or two thats supposed to be announced today.
The airline is working on it but may not be put right properly until after the weekend.
People can phone and book seats on the route though.

Passengers missed their flights at Liverpool Airport this week after new X-ray scanners broke down, the Echo reports. The machines malfunctioned yesterday - at one of the airport’s peak times for weekend getaways.
The airport is going through a huge re-fit and opened a new ‘central search’ area this week. Six new Rapiscan security scanners were installed on Wednesday, but four broke down yesterday lunchtime. One was fixed quickly, but the other three were out of action for almost an hour, causing huge queues and some passengers to miss their flights.
The airport confirmed seven passengers missed a flight to Bordeaux, and passengers on other flights were also affected. A spokesman told the newspaper: ‘During our lunchtime peak, at one point we had four sets of X-ray machines fail, so we were down to one-third of our capacity to process an awful lot of passengers.'
‘It looks like teething problems. Engineers have been here, they are remaining not just today but over the weekend to make sure that if we have any on-going problems, they are fixed as soon as possible.’

time taken from joining the back of the security queue to standing next to clearing and standing next to travelex was 25 minutes today.
still not as quick as i had hoped for but a more comfortable queuing experience.
its a pity they cant (/wont?) staff it so that all of the arches and scanners are in use.

BBC News - Liverpool airport pair not charged over dead man
I think this has been mentioned before when the story first broke but
no charges are going to be brought against the family.
Quite an amazing story and certainly one the LPL staff involved will
be re-telling many times over the next few years.
First thing that came into my mind was Monty Python.
Is the article a fair reflection on what actually happened?

The financial results show a picture at a specific point in time for both companies Roverman and as with any accounts can be manipulated to a certain extent to paint the picture the owners want. They're no more an indication of long term viability or success than Man United's record losses announced today. I imagine both airport companies expect to be around for a long time.

Has all the work now been completed on the extension to security? Also, is there anything else going on at LPL at the moment? Extenstion to terminal building etc? If so, when is completion due?
