Went tho' Liverpool last week. Dark, cramped & depressing springs to mind.
Security was flowing but my box was scannned & just placed on the floor out of reach. Had to wait to find somebody to deal with it, as those stood around were not bothered. The exec lounge doesn't even have a window, again a pretty dull & depressing experience.
Maybe when the work is done it will improve, but for now,I'd call it a cheap & miserable facility.

just been speaking to someone who was complaining of havin gto queue for 45 minutes at security a few weeks ago on a saturday morning.

they were back at the airport on sunday evening and said that the queue was the same length. they queued for about 20 mins, hoping it would move faster but it didnt. when they asked to be moved forward the reply from security was "you should have got here earlier". they then went to a fast track machine which wasnt working and then got told to go through because the machine wasnt working and they had at least tried to use it.

the horror stories continue....

Clearing security at any airport may be described as time consuming or maybe inconvenient and maybe stressful for some but to describe it as a horror story is stretching it a bit far.

If your friend finds clearing security that much of a hassle that it is necessary to describe it as a horror story then maybe transportation by air is not for him/her.

Does anyone know when the new security area will open? One week delay was mentioned but I've heard nothing since.

New escalators, lifts and stairs have been built in the extension, as mentioned next to check-in desk 1, which take you up to level 3 and via a corridor into what was hangar 1 where the new search area is located. After security you return to the main building at level 3 and a new shopping area which is still under construction. All gates are still accessed from level 2 as now.
