How much was the reduction in immigration staff hours at Shannon due to behind-the-scenes lobbying by US airline lobbyists in Washington, to spike a facility that British Airways was using ?

I think that's just the usual summer holiday cutback in response to lower levels of premium business travel in August.

Don't think they've covered themselves in glory in fighting the effects of the snow. It hasn't been snowing in hours and we've not had a single flight out or in. Was past at 3pm and they were snow clearing and madly de-icing the ERJ190 on Stand 10. Doesn't seem to have gone anywhere...

I have given up on LCY for the winter.
For my regular commute to EDI I am letting the train take the strain. There is not much in it door to door. For my last two trips the flights would have been cancelled but the train made it through.

Being within earshot of the airport, the howl of the snowblower that has always been apparent across the district on previous occasions was notably absent during the snowfall this last weekend.
The dislocation at the airport also seems to have been greater, and for longer, than before. I wonder why the difference.

Onward into Spring. And looking at another trip to The Med, to Nice, and checking when BA restart the route, which appears to be this month.
Looking at the timetable, though, although they don't operate all days of the week, there appear to be three BA flights from LCY to Nice on a Tuesday, and no less than four on a Friday, all within the space of a few hours. At first I thought this was a timetable error, but looking at the LCY actual arrivals for today (a Tuesday) it appears correct. Last year the summer service was only once a day. Has demand for Nice really taken off like this.
Still no Saturday morning operation, though. Shame. Can they really not get reliably back before the curfew ?

Altitalia move Rome capacity to LCY
Alitalia to add LCY-Rome service - Business Traveller
Seems they've flogged some LHR slots, they're doing a "Swiss" and moving to LCY in part.

£1bn mini-city at Royal Albert Docks will be ?gateway? for tiger businesses from Asia - London - News - London Evening Standard
Interesting that currently the only way into the Royal Albert Dock is across the approach path to runway 27! Won't all those big metal ships interfere with the ILS?

London Gateway
Well living and working in the Port of Southampton that is only good news for us although if anything it will have more of a direct impact on Tilbury and to a lessor extent Thamesport or Felixstowe.
The cranes have arrived at London Gateway and it is currently being made ready for operations but as yet no shipping company that I am aware of have made any intention of using it although alot of the alliance groups have recently commited to their existing ports so it will be interesting to see what develops.
