BA expansion at LCY
BA ready to expand in North America | ABTN
BA will fly 100% of long haul; could move US flights to London City if cabin crew strike again : London City Airport News Stories
Good news for LCY, with the axeing of runway 3 at Heathrow, will BA now consider their operation at LCY to be a good way of adding capacity? Can't see too much more room at current, but if LCY gets the go ahead for 120,000 ATMs could we see a mini-hub of sorts here?

Expect a nice new BA winter addition to the scheduele this coming winter scheduele. Hopefully it will happen.
Also, don't expect to see holding stacks for LCY traffic. I've been told by a very reliable source it will not happen. I just forgot why.

From a customer point of view, i used BA LCY-IBZ service this week on the EMB-190, flight was about 70% full outbound and 95% full on the return. loved the extra legroom and the power take off from LCY, reminded me of 757 take offs. Looking forward to using again.

Tommorows Flight to PMI is Full!
It appears that tomorrows flight to PMI will be completely full. Fingers cross I get bumped up
Long may the flights to PMI last, excellent product and the 190 are very comfortable.

sorry it was yesterday! 3rd July. Not at airport this year due to being to popular and exceeding capacity for the airport apparently (but i think the building work may have something to do with it ), so it was at Thames barrier park just down the road.

Lcy Bacf
Hi, For all those that work at BACF - I wonder if you could ans a few ?'s for me.
What is the commute like to LCY airport? - public transport and roads through and around the city! Is it reliable?
What would be an OK area to live if I were to move nearer? In Bagshotl now so thinking it would be too far away to do those 6am starts.
I'm sure more will pop into my head but for now if anybody is in the know then I would appreciate it.

I used to work on eastern side of city and commute from Camberley (it was not for too long because employer relocating out west of London)
No chance of getting to LCY for 6 am by public transport from this area but car journey at that hour ok , one hour and ten minutes. The problem is getting home, pretty much two to two and half hours at any time of day. I think you are going to have to head East if youwant to do more at home than just sleep
Good luck with it

If a move is best for you, i can highly recommend from experience a number of places along the M11 corridor.
Theydon Bois
Ongar
Epping
Bishops Stortford
Great Dunmow
GD is furthest, but for a 6am start the drive is 35-40 mins, and 1hr in traffic - East Herts, and West Essex still have some really nice towns and villages in very commutable times to LCY, plus the presence of STN means there are a number of companies tailored towards crew searching for somewhere to live.
If renting is the short term solution better deals are in towns/villages without a mainline/underground stn, head for Chipping Ongar, Gt Dunmow and surrounding little villages.

Welcome to the team...
Bishops Stortford is a good place to commute from, takes about 40mins non peak, can be over an hour at peak time though
There is a Cityflyer thread you can post in, search it under 'Cityflyer'

Thanks so much for all your replies and apologies for the delay in mine. I felt clueless really and have now started my research from your advice.
May I also ask how the parking works at the airport for staff? I'm at LHR at the moment which involves buses etc to the terminal. Obviously LCY is smaller so I'm presuming it would be a little easier there - park and go kind of thing.
Also just found CF thread - thanks

Staff car park is part of, and at the far end of long stay car park at the 27 end. Its a couple of minutes walk along a covered walkway to the terminal or the offices in aviation house. Really easy. Plane to being on the road 10 minutes tops.
If you use public transport then the DLR station is at the terminal so also really easy. LCY is a very easy airport to work out of.
