So any juicy gossip then guys? I miss the rumours

Are Eastern still taking over the world starting with BMI regional?

I heard on the grapevine you might be getting more aircraft, starting with a mustan, a b17, Lancaster and a thunderbird 2.

Yes, I suppose you will need a plan so that you can try to stop the remnants of your scheduled service route network getting carved up by your competitors.

Not exactly as though massive expansion will be an option for T3 given the chronic state of crewing, is it, eh?

BACF lease a T3 S2000

BACF have this morning announced that they are launching a new route from LCY to IOM. Flights will begin on 28th May operating 5 x Weekly on a BACF E170.

From 24th June BACF will increase frequency on the route to up to 3 x Daily and will replace the E170 with a S2000. The S2000 is to be leased from T3. The aircraft will be painted into BA colours. The flights will be operated by T3 flight crew and BACF cabin crew.

Sounds like this is set to be a long term arrangement, It will be interesting to see what the Saab looks like in BA colours.

Why J41's

Due to work reasons I've just spent a couple of weeks trundling around the country on Jetstreams 41's,do 328's, saab 340's. Of the 3 I really enjoyed the Eastern experience and the jetstream is a good aircraft and a favourite, but also enjoyed Suckling's Do 328's, especially the space and quietness compared to the J41.
Just wondered have Eastern ever looked at the Do328 for thier schedule, or is the J41 better on economics and suits their marketing????

The Dornier is a VERY expensive craft to operate. The Jetstreams are more economical, they're workhorses too.

The reason they use J41's is because they got them for next to nothing from BA, along with all the set up, training and even most of the crews. If BA had been wanting to offload another type, that's what they would be operating in stead. having said this, the J41 is good for the job.

So how does the J41 compare to the S340??? Certainly feels a little more spacious inside the cabin but only just.

Talking

Apparently we're going to be taking over BA's crewing function. Poor sods aren't going to know what hit them....

That will be bloody hilarious to watch. If BACF crews think that they are under pressure now, handing over any form of control of crewing and rostering to T3 will require a safe distance to be maintained after lighting the blue touch paper. Sure-fire way of running an operation into the dust - just as Humberside are doing their best to do right now.

Mmmmmm if I read that correct, T3 "managing" the day to day crewing BACF flights will only end in tears unless they get some serious help.

If these BA flights are wet lease, why would T3 be doing the BA crewing? T3 would use their own crews.

Have looked into the crewing arrangements for the new BACF IOM -LCY route operated by T3.

Aircraft and crew are all being leased from T3. T3 cabin crew will operate the flights however they will be in in BA uniform. The onboard product will be same as on BACF's other domestic routes.

LCY-IOM flights are now available for same until late March 2013. With flights showing as operating on a S20.
