Question

If you believe upgrading relates to longer hours of availability then it is very unlikely. I would love to see it, I really would but for the military its such an important area for the Mil they are unlikey to give it up without a flight.

There are ongoing conversations, I've been to the meetings but work is very slow. If you know something I dont why not share?

Lakey had a big grin on this afternoon? He must be about to kill someone or buy something very cheap. Any ideas.

A sweet deal and all down to Shell Aircraft pulling the plug on those jokers at Flightline and Eastern having a far more mature SMS that their potential competitors.

Does anyone have any information on Eastern Airways UK please?

I know there routes aircraft ect but just wanted to know what the working conditions are like at the moment moral wise, progression ect if you accept working as cabin crew or in ops before you get a chance on the flight deck?

Also what is it like working in Aberdeen?

And why are they always looking for cabin crew in Aberdeen?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Mr Sox,
taking a cabin crew job with Eastern to progress to flight crew can work, but don't expect to be in the front for some time. I can think of 3 guys already doing this some who have been with the company for 12 months. Then they see themselves jumped by outsiders going straight to flightdeck.
Aberdeen, lovely place, expensive place. Cold place. And quite grey.
Cabin turnover. I don't think that really needs an explanation.

does anyone keep a resignation tally board?

Capt Sox,
If you apply as cabin crew, you will get a cabin crew position. To be fair they don't promise you anything so don't expect to get to the flight deck miraculously - that is the risk you take.
However, if flight deck management find out that you are a pilot sometime down the line than it creates a good impression of you (showing commitment yada yada) with is oh so important with Eastern.
Worth a try, what have you got to loose. Good luck.

Crew bases should be

Aberdeen
Dijon
Durham Tees Valley
East Midlands
Humberside
Newcastle
Norwich
Wick

As for the financial reports I would have thought they will only be available at Companies House, and even then the information maybe limited

You can pay a fee to companies house to get a copy of annual accounts. There are numerous different companies in the mix including Air Kilroe, Eastern Airways, Eastern Airways Europe etc etc etc. So its difficult to unravel what goes on. They make a reasonable profit each year, and have done since they set up so in general terms it is viewed as a fairly secure outfit.

Other than that the owners play cards very close to their chests.

Any more news on Eastern at the moment?

I see they are trying to get as many cabin crew as possible up in Aberdeen to cope with the workload. Crews told things will get better by January when they have more people up there!

Also how reliable are they if your rostered Mon-Fri about calling you out on the weekends?

Cheers

A couple of courses running and being filled for new crew. Rosters in Aberdeen have a short life so lots of disruption. Days off are safe, but can often be sold back to the company. Some rumours of SOU reopening.

Getting home from Aberdeen for a weekend, and then back in time for an early monday shift is the main issue. I hear they are recruiting more scottish natives to try and settle the ship.

Hi Taxi Driver Thank you for the update. Yes It would make sence to try and get Scottish people working up there, perhaps that will help with the high turn over. That would be great news about the southampton base re opening, but im sure there would be a high demand for crew wanting to be based there. Do you know anything more about after doing a stint in cabin crew if I were to have to pay up front the 13K for the type rating or would that be a bond. And also I gather a further 8K for line training. Cheers

pay more money and that will steady ship!

With regards to Sou opening AGAIN

3 times in 3 years open and shut. The last bout of people who went there offered no transfer to another base and made redundant or to Sweden

Youre right about that WB. I heard they were looking at it for ASW rather than us

Most of the Jetstream Aircraft are being shifted out of Aberdeen, Saab's possibly only doing Scatsta and Norwich, Air southwest dash 8 picking up some of the routes upto Aberdeen.

Rumours that certain managers and postholders moving to pastures new.

All a bit confusing really.

Yes that's what I have heard. Only one J41 being based in Aberdeen and the Saab's are doing the Scatsta run.

Does that mean some J41 crews for the chop then?

I dont quite understand what the deal is....Interesting times to come I think!
