red17 - I agree - its directly in the middle of two very high cost routes from Eastern Airways and a new region for them. Maybe Staverton is very low cost.

From the website it also looks like they are launching Jersey from there too.

i acknowledge the success they have had in BLK, however squires gate is only a few minutes walk rom the airport, and there is also car rental desks in BLK.

these options dont exist in gloucestershire, and a taxi is the only option i can see for onward rail connections via cjeltenham spa.

i have no axe to grind and wish them every success

It's only half a mile from the Cheltenham/Gloucester bus route, which runs every 10 minutes. Hertz depot at a similar range and the taxi rank is outside the Terminal. Free parking 100yds from the new Terminal (built in 2000).

Will be interesting to see if a twice a day can work. There is a direct challenge to Blue islands as well with the Jersey connection.

Ii doubt Blue Islands will be affected by a weekend only one stop service, when they have at least once daily non stop service. I guess most passengers on Manx2 will be from Gloucester to Jrsey

Noticed that 1900D will be operating the new services. Looks like 1900Ds on the new services, Metros on LBA and BHD, while Lets fly BLK and BFS!

With only 1 flight a day from BRS, any business pax from the south would have to drive straight past GLO to do a return trip from BHX.

Has great potential.

Where to next for Manx2

I believe that the next route that MANX2 will announce is IOM to Oxford. I emailed manx2 with some suggestions for new routes last year and they replied by saying that IOM to GLO and Oxford. The email also said that the airline was focused on IOM and all new routes in 07 would be ex IOM with one exception this must be GLO JER..
Watch this space... Oxford....

GLO

I've booked a couple of cheap GLO returns at £49 while they are still there after ringing the airport info desk at Staverton. They were really helpful and will either call taxis to meet the plane and gave me the number of local car hire companie who'll turn up and greet flights with keys in hand at no extra charge. No bus service but apparently its £8 taxi fare to the train station? What with GLo ond LTN and GVA in the same week we'll soon be a booming airport again...........

Manx2 sold?

From the CAA Official Record 2 this week:

EDC132 From Orange Aircraft Leasing t/a Manx2 to operate a scheduled air service between Gloucester and Jersey. The permit would be effective from 3 September to 24 December 2007.

Orange Leasing Trading as Manx2? Manx2 Limited is an Isle of Man registered company (116484C). Have Orange taken Manx2 over? The application to operate services can only be made by the airline holding the AOC (Orange Aircraft Leasing). I wonder why they have mentioned Manx2 at all? Perhaps they couldn't advertise the services under the Manx2 name unless they say it is a T/A?

Isn't orange air leasing the outfit that took on where Rossair left off?
Could we be seeing PHRAR back again then?

Had manx2 been taken over i am sure we would be aware of it!! Remember Manx2 does not hold its own AOC so it seems obvious that whoever operates there service for them such as FLM aviation do on LBA and BHD will have to apply for permission to operate the route. It all goes back to the argument of manx2 being a ticket agent or airline!! Whatever the case it works!! manx2 ahve not been sold!

Manx2 recruitment

I've just been looking at the Manx2 site and it seems they're recruiting. It's good to see at least one airline on the rock expanding!

Cheers!

The GLO/JER is going to change from a Sat/Sun to a Fri/Sun for the winter period, which seems to make more sense for the business and leisure markets.

GLO-IOM-BHD involves the 1030 IOM-BHD flights, a sneaky attempt no doubt to also steal the last remaining pax from EuroManx 1000 flight??

How very dare they!!
