The IOM -HAM flts are the empty legs of a charter coming HAM - IOM for the TT.
The IOM - BRE are empty legs positioning for the Metro's maintenance so these will be quite regular during the summer. Manx2 could well do with having a message on their homepage that these are irregular flts and therefore difficult to track on their booking engine.

I would have to say that the M2 TT operations have been a success so far. Congrats to both M2 and the people at IOM airport!

Now that the Scotair a/c are up for sale, could M2 get one? Maybe IOM-BLK-LTN flights? The a/c would fit quite well on some of the BLK and BFS flights on weekends.

I think this would probably be unlikely if they are not to expand their routes in the near future, as they are currently using the highly successful high frequencies flights.

You also have to consider Manx2 do not have their own AOC and are effectively a ticket shop as all flights are operated by 2 different operators at present so they would need an AOC to put it on first unless they have other plans.

Rather than expand to larger aircraft, it would make more sense to replace the Metros with something a liitle bit more comfortable and not so old. A fleet of Jetstream 31/32's would be better, they're much faster, more economical and much more spacious in comparison to the Metro. If they were to obtain a larger aircraft, a Shorts SD360 (Shed) would be quite good, as its basically a lager version of the LET.

Do328's for M2, far to Business like, they need something that suits their lower cost image.

Sorry, forgot M2 didn't have an AOC. Is there a rule that the airline will have to apply for an AOC within a certain amount of time, or am I dreaming?

M2 did operate some of the JXT J31s afew months ago before Jetstream Express was born.

I suppose a Do328 would be too big and 'business' like as you put it. If they were to increase the a/c size, then they would have to introduce the £10 departure tax. That would mean £20 extra return! Unless the new a/c was able to ofset this with the savings on the 17 seater LET.

The M2 Jetsreams were 'Operated by Jetstream Executive Travel' with the AOC they own, which, is what effecively happens now with Jetstream Express.

Re Time limit ...No, not to my knowledge. Manx2 is just effectively a travel agent / ticket shop. The Let410 (Vanair Europe)and the metros are operated by FLM.

JEX

It seems Jetstream express is also just a ticket shop with their flights operated by JEX, who are responsible for aircraft maintenance, which they now appear to sub out (base maint.)to Highland. Not sure who doest their line maintenance? Any info NAV3? I've looked at your posts and you'd seem to be part of the company?

So do these airlines have to have any licenses or can they just set up shop an sell?

Cheers.

confused

I've had a look at both websites. Manx2 clearly states that its flights are operated by VanAir and FLM who are the carriers and Manx 2 are the ticket providers. EuroManx started the same way and I believe they still operate off an Austrian AOC. I'm totally confused by Jetstrean Express who claim in their website T & C to be the carrier. This must be wrong as they don't appear to have an AOC. Surely Jetstream Express are just a ticket shop and are not the carrier. If so their website istotally misleading.

PIK

Rumours around here from a normally sound source that Manx2 are looking seriously at PIK again with a view to starting in Oct in a 3rd L410.

Would be a good addition to the route network and surely they would be able to match the BA prices to GLA.

I would also like to point out that on Sunday 15th July it will be one year since Manx2 brought two passengers from the Isle of Man to Blackpool on the very first scheduled service of the airline. They now have a tried, tested and quite successful method of small aircraft and very high frequencies and the airline got what the deserved during the TT, full planes and no hickups. Superb little airline and I hope them the best in the future!

Also, wouldn't be a bad time to announce a new route on their 1st Birthday!

Glo-jer

These would be the Aeroscope (?) holiday charters that Aurigny used to do on the Shorts? Didn't Aeroscope also do Manston / Cambridge?

The new Gloucester route is a permanant twice daily service! This could be very interesting. They are advertising it as Gloucester M5 (as in the motorway). Definitely one to watch.

Captain Yonder I agree.

It'll probably see quite a few pax fleeing from T3.

From what I remember of Staverton in my PPL days, its a great little airport and as they state in the name it's very close to the motorway and a giveaway at £49.

is it true that gloucestershire airport has no public transport connections ?

this may put off people from using the new manx2 service.

this choice of route is a little surprising

Well Manx2 have turned BLK into a sucess, I see no reason why they cannot do the same. I wouldn't say it is such a suprise as it seems a logical step into another region of the UK
