rumoured Rotterdam
RTM has been rumoured before, with the likes of T3, bmiR, VLM touted.
Currently, T3 have slots at RTM ( checked a red hot Dutch...aviation website ) held for a S20-operated service from Mar09. Twice daily ex Sats.
Also mentioned in the T3 thread.
We'll see if they are taken up.
Wonder if we'll ever see the likes of KSU, KRS, AES, HAU ever operated again?
============================
At same time as launching BGO, T3 also adding more rotations to SVG M-Thu.

Vast range of restaurants and bars...
Travelling next week, the airport kindly sent me an email in advance telling me all about the many facilities available including this nugget below..
Would someone care to define the BAA version of vast as it differs widely from mine....
Eating
Aberdeen offers a vast range of restaurants and bars, and you will pay the same as you would on a UK high street. Children are welcome in all outlets

Flybe & bmiR
Been talked about before, how likely is it that Flybe will acquire Regional? More talk over the last couple of days that Flybe are interested in bmi, but I can imagine that it would only be the Regional & Maybe Baby bits.
Would give Flybe more routes out of ABZ at a stroke, whether they would keep them as another matter. MAN & NWI I could imagine, not so sure re EBJ or GRQ though - IF it comes to pass.
And Flybe would get Embraers back!
Seriously should ABZ welcome such a takeover if it happens, given that Regional are ABZ-based?
Would it lead to Flybe opening a larger base for ABZ - not all routes tried have succeeded, dropping NCL & I think SOU too of routes launched. Would they retry these routes again, once market conditions improve, & do so on a more "business-friendly" timetable?
What about jobs should a merger move forward?

Regarding the esbjerg route this would be very interesting one
As from 25th Oktober Cimber Sterling are starting Billund - ABZ 6 daily fts per week with prises from £65 one way
Interesting because Billund is only 40 miles from Esbjerg and the price difference is so huge
Could it really pay to have 2 routes to vittually the same destination around the same time.

Billund
So what was all that about then? Was Cimber's business case built on lego? Billund...PROBABLY the most pointless destination launched from Aberdeen (& vice versa I may add!!)
Any good news out there or is it still stories of route frequency cutbacks, falling passengers nos. & redundancies?

The Billund service did start in the first week only 2 flights made it to ABZ and there after it was decided the service would not work and canx the service due to no bookings
There was not commercial for the service and the timings of the route were pretty pure the flights were due to leave Billund at 13.00 local the same time as BM from Esbjerg to Aberdeen and land in ABZ at 13.20
Bad Planning I would say if the route were to be succesful it should have a 07:00 dept from Billund.
I think tis was mentioned in the EE in the last week of October.
The last I heard was the service is not totally dropped and that Cimber Sterling will reveiw the service once Lego Land opens for the summer

I do not recall seeing any advance advertising of the route by Cimber in the lead up to its commencement. Questionable even with advertising whether it would have made much impact.
See 19th consecutive month of declining passenger throughput at ABZ.
MD Brown sees 2010 being better for ABZ. But with the oil industry in decline, a city teetering on the brink of bankruptcy & with no tourist attractions (unless you want to go to the beach in winter, or Union St on a Fri/Sat night!!! ) I just cannot see where this optimism is coming from.
Flybe for example launched new routes for S10...but not here. No wonder.
Maybe Trump can use the place as a car park.

Jesus!! for the love God why would anyone go to ABZ other than for the oil business? The City is a dump that's full of drug fuelled p^ss heads, the road net work is worst than London and the weather is crap, i wasa based there for a year and it was the most depressing place i ever been, when the oils finishes ABZ will be full of empty property and offices.
Trump must have taken leave of his senses

Sorry to hear this, & good luck to all staff in finding alternative employment.
Bad blow for the summer holiday schedules at ABZ, will BAA be successful in finding another carrier to fill the gap? Or is the general perception that, with high operating costs, a small catchment area & a recession, ABZ will not be worth serving?

I see Thomas Cook is coming to the rescue this summer after the demise of Globespan.
