I totally agree about the Boeing 757. This is personally my favourite aircraft, and hope to see it fly for many years from it's 25th Birthday.
Do you think the airline will adventure into Eugpt with schedule flights from LBA and MAN. TOM operate many flights p/w to Eygpt holiday resorts from MAN, but I suppose they could do what they have done with the TFS service - twice weekly to NCL, BFS, BLK - with a 'based' TFS aircraft. Would be great to see BLK getting a service outside of Europe, or is the distance not economical for a B752?

It's the old, old argument: (1) buy a mature a/c fairly cheaply and accept high maintenance costs or (2) finance mega-expensive new a/c that are cheaper to run and maintain, and are more reliable.
If your business model depends on starting and building up a large number of new routes you need spare capacity to expand your network. That means that, initially at least, you risk having seats sitting on the ground, especially in the off season. Old, cheap seats are more sensible for this. When your network is mature, you know your capacity requirements and need to drive down costs, so newer a/c make sense. On that basis, expect more 73s and 75s which have been around a bit, rather than shiny new Airbusses or NG Boeings. I, for one, would rather that Jet2 continued to thrive and expand rather than it all go pear-shaped with millions owed to the manufacturers....

Exactly! and our 733s and 752s arnt that bad, ive been on worse!
Anyone know why we are no longer gettin the x Atlasjet 757s GLSAF and LSAJ?
We plan on replacing them with other ones or we not bothering

LBA-CDG, amongst others from bmi, for the chop from 25th FEB....a golden opportunity for Jet2 to get the long sought after morning and evening slot pair perhaps. Hopefully they are still pushing on the morning slot into DUS as well.

Debiting credit cards
I heard on the TV last nite that Jet2 were automatically going to debit the extra £5 pax tax off of everyones credit cards. Surely this is totally ilegal as the airlines are not ment to keep these details after theyve' prosessed the transacktion
. I'd hate to think J2 were keeping my cc detayils forever as its way open to fraud
. If anyone from the company reads this pls feed it back up before the data protectiun people call.

Jet2 website says they will be contacting customers in order of booking date to collect the payment. It also says if you cannot be contacted prior to departure, you will have to pay at check-in, i.e. they will not be taking the money unless they get in touch (see extract from website below).

This will eliminate disruption at check-in therefore maintaining our smooth, stress free check-in process. bmi have indeed now confirmed the end of LBA-CDG. from 25-MAR. Jet2 have already placed an item on their news page about this and it mentions "additional capacity" being added during 2007.

Could we see Long Haul flights from LS?
They have the 752s. If they can get ETOPS, they would be able to open up new routes to destinations in USA such as BOS or NYC from LBA.
If they could get the rights for a NCL - JFK/EWR, like AA and CO have been saying for ages
, then they could find themselves in a great market.

Very interesting.
If LS WERE to start USA flights, and they are to keep the 752s and 733s, then why don't they retrofit the a/c with winglets? This will help cut their fuel burns down further, especially on the longer routes, such as TFS and Lanzarote.
Would LOVE to see 733Ws and 752Ws flying around Europe in the LS livery!

If longhaul is in the pipeline is there any chance of flights from Cork? If they used a 757 it would be able to land at Cork's relatively short runway. Most Cork people fly to Dublin or London to get a connecting flight or some fly from Shannon. Maybe perhaps the flights could originate in UK and make a short stop in Cork enroute to pick up passengers?
