Debiting credit cards

I heard on the TV last nite that Jet2 were automatically going to debit the extra £5 pax tax off of everyones credit cards. Surely this is totally ilegal as the airlines are not ment to keep these details after theyve' prosessed the transacktion . I'd hate to think J2 were keeping my cc detayils forever as its way open to fraud . If anyone from the company reads this pls feed it back up before the data protectiun people call.
