No, your not right.. but ask yourself the same question with your information on the page previous. And like i said, you have a word with your peel contact and im quite sure he'll let you in on the news.. then you can come and post on here or whatever you like! Its been internal news for some time now, within operations anyway..

Then your source is completely sending you into a world unknown to the rest of us.. Easyjet are leaving yes as planned on the 4th, but if your source considers the "announcement" be "not that good" then he's utterly wrong as its not something the airports even going to announce, but inturn still good for the airport.
I feel like im now running in circles with this, its quite clear that no-one really knows anything, pure speculation, as always. So ill bid you a goodnight, and until something productive can be posted, im out

How lovely to see all the plane spotters / wishful thinkers in Pprune.
It's simple. Peel will do what makes the most money for them in the medium term. Just remember that Peel have no interest whatsoever in airports except that airports are a means to an end and that end is money.
Just take a look down the road at Sheffield and remember that the terminal is nothing more than a big shed - just like the one at Doncaster.
Personally I've got more confidence in the airport reopening in Sheffield by 2015 than there still being one at Doncaster.

Why not enlighten us?
Now it appears you're actually confirming that you don't actually know a great deal, seeing as ops know it(see above), others obviously know it, and you and your mate don't.
Has your mate had a word with Craig yet to see if he's changed his mind?
You know the bit where you said, VAS don't see DSA as a going concern but the chief exec has said 'the group sees great growth potential from all three airports, but especially from Doncaster'.
I'm sure even those who don't support the airport would love to know. So, over to you, oh, and your mate

For someone who started his post mocking other pprune users you would think you would post something that was factually correct.
Peel don't own DSA they are minority shareholders, VAS are in charge and they actually have a wealth of experience in running airports. If Peel had remained in charge then maybe your post would have been relevant, but they aren't so it isn't.

I know that rom 4th January after easyjet leave, there will be as few as 2 departures per day during the winter.
Tell me how the airport can survive on those figures??
Next summer doesn't look good either. On average of about 8 departures per day.
I will quite confidently say that no new airlines will come on board at DSA before next summer.
With the loss of easyjet and the Dublin route, that is a total of 56 movements per week. There is no one who is going to fill that gap.
2011 could well be the final year as the airport simply will not be a going concern with so few flights.

Still waiting for this announcement that you said would happen, and, a subject which you keep evading, Wizz Air not expanding any further....

Compare this years Wizz flights to next years. There's a total of one more outbound flight per week. Hardly an expansion of note is it
Now someone please tell me how an airport can survive with some days of only two departure through the winter?
No one has done much speculatation on what possible airlines the airport could be speaking to. My guess is because there are no airlines interested!

Your "contact" hasnt informed you of the 2 new interested airlines then obviously Timmy..
I think its about time you gave up on the subject if im honest.. not being disrespectful or anything, but nothing you write is worth reading in this thread.

Spotty M management have rumoured to have been in the area as of late... this being a rumour network, I though it might be a good idea to post this here. . . Could this be one of the two new airlines considering?

If something was in the pipeline, somone would know about it, and rumours would have been posted.
Face facts, the airport will probably only handle 500k passengers next year with the flights on offer.
Pug seems to know a lttle about this impending announcement, maybe he could shed a little light?
If more airlines come on board any time soon I will eat my hat.

All I know is there is an announcment, but not the best of news. I never claimed to know anything else.
Still, no one has answered my quesion on how an airport can financially survive on as little as 2 departures a day in the winter months.
Wh are these mysterious two airlines apparently showing an interest? I'll tell you now, there are NO airlines showing an interest.
The Wizz "expansion" is laughable aswell.
On the old EGCN forum, ther was talk of loads more routes from Wizz, ie Prague for one. Where are they all?
