Hi,
As some of you may be aware i run the other forum dedicated to DSA..
I'm not going to get into specifics of this, but i had a e.mail the other day from the airport stating that my forum had been under watch for sometime and they were having to modify certain aspects of online information regarding the airport.
I have not been asked to close, nor modify anything on my forum, but i have no idea whats gone on with Jacks forum, if it is indeed the airport who pulled it, and until that is proven, it remains a sole rumour..
Proboards dont seem to be very helpful with him..

My source works for Peel. He tells me all kinds of things. This being one, which after the last post, sounds increasingly true.
Another is that a big announcement will be made soon with regards to the future of DSA (its not good either). But that is all I say on the matter until something official is released.

It's a real shame if it has completely gone, was a decent forum with mainly well mannered and jovial members.
Would like to know the real reasons behind it's disappearance.

I was an avid reader of the DSA forum, and will sadly miss it. Hopefully some of the regular contributors to the forum will use this site/thread to keep us informed as to what's happening at DSA'

As someone who was pretty active, and for the most part positive on the aforementioned forum, the closing down came as a surprise to me and caused me to reflect deeply on what was going on on that forum. It appears to me that there were at least three types of contributors. There were those who moved in informed circles, and therefore had a VERY good idea of what is going on. (Though they didn't say what explicitly.) There were those of us not in those circles, but who'd been on there so long that they could make an educated guess at what was happening, based not on what was being said but tbh on what was NOT being said and by which particular members were keeping very quiet when certain topics arose. Then there were those interested but not in either of the above two groups. I can't believe that either Peel or VAS (and who else MIGHT unless intent on mischief??) would make any approach to proboards unless some of the discussion was so 'close to the bone' that it actually constituted a threat to the business. In which case the forum must have been far more 'informative' than any of us suspected! A Face ... (you know what I mean!) page and discussion group might be an interesting alternative, if only to see what the consequences might be.

Give what up? The forum was closed due to speculation of the added tax and talk about it's inevitable closure. VAS have no interest in DSA. If I was a betting man, i'd say there will be no DSA come the end of 2012.

Timmy..
I find it hard to believe anything your writing at the moment, first "My source works for Peel. He tells me all kinds of things. This being one, which after the last post, sounds increasingly true."
The e.mail i received from a legal representative acting on behalf of VAS, so i highly doubt your "contact" would know about it..
"If I was a betting man, i'd say there will be no DSA come the end of 2012."
Good job your not a betting man then isnt it!

Seeing as Peel work with VAS, then i'm pretty sure they are in the loop. Plus I posted the news that the airport had closed the forum, before you mentioned you had hd contact with them. I must be either telling the truth or a mind reader.
It also doesn't take a genius to see there is little or no future for DSA. Only Thomson and Wizz have a decnt number of routes. Other airlines come in and fail. Who else is going to "test the water". Even if someone does, what likeyhood is them staying.
The result is there for all to see. VAS don't see DSA as a going concern. Why do you think they have issued statements regarding the future of Liverpool and Teeside, but nothing for Doncaster.

Ahh, but Craig Richmond is on public record as saying
"We really see huge potential in Robin Hood. It has a very long runway and a great catchment area," he said.
"If we can make it really attractive to fly out of Robin Hood we can see huge potential to grow both passengers and flights."
Robin Hood's long runway means that an increase in the number of cargo flights will be a key target.
He said that the group sees great growth potential from all three airports, but especially from Doncaster.
Perhaps your mate, could stick his head round Craigs door and ask him if he's changed his mind?

So reading between the lines of what you are suggesting, that Easyjet my stay on or make a come back?
I'm purely posting what I have been told from someone who genuinely works for Peel.

Nope not at all, however, if your contact is so upto date as you claim, might be worth asking him. I'm not having my forum shut down for leaking information as said one above!
