fr at cvt
I always believed FR would make a move at CVT instead of BHX, obviously the deal was right at BHX, and what with planning permission being up in the air at CVT.
Although, CVT is the perfect FR airport - maybe we'll see the usual Ryanair fall out tactics with airports, and they'll move all flights across to CVT if and when they get a new terminal. Highly doubtfall I feel, but this is Ryanair.
Is the runway able to handle a full 738W?
It's a shame about Thomsonfly, seems like yesterday they launched to Rome Ciampino, Naples, Jersey twice a day amoung others!
Only other possible entree would be EZY at CVT, although it breaks the EZY airport model.

i think 738's have landing problems in the wet. fr couldn't make it work in the past at cvt i find it hard to beleive they would come back to cvt. does anyone know if the remainder of toms 733's are going to be based at cvt for summer 09 or are tui going to give tom some of the new 737-700 for the smaller airports in the uk (cvt) for next year

Shortest landing distance at Blackpool 1869 metres, shortest landing distance Coventry 1615 metres. Until CVT can persuade the planners at Warwick District Council to allow them to use the tarmac that is already laid (2008 metres), then CVT has a problem with B738s.
In any case, there is no chance of Ryanair coming to CVT. Why would they with bases at BHX and EMA?

Ryanair commits to 100 routes from BHX within 5 years and then decides to nip 12 miles down the A45 and set up a CVT - DUB route in direct competition with their existing BHX - DUB route? is 0523 cov man winding us up?
Thomsonfly are apparently withdrawing from their city break scheduled operation in the UK, it lost £24 million last year and it seems that parent Tuifly have now pulled the plug. No one knows how much the CVT operations contributed to that loss but it is probably a lot.
IMHO I can't see another major airline trying their luck at CVT, with or without the terminal planning permission.
