TUI 100 Day review

Does anyone know whether the results of the 100 day review will be available in the public domain or will we have to suffer rumour and speculation, some of which I am sure will involve CVT.
It would be nice to see it for yourself and draw ones own conclusions.
I for one fear the worst in the long term. CVT has dropped off the booking schedule after November 2008, and I know the winter schedule won't be known yet, but the likes of bournemouth and doncaster are still on there.
I find it hard to believe that there isn't an airline out there that operates a 50-90 seater aircraft that haven't seen the opportunity of CVT- AMS or CVT -ORY. I know Thomson were not filling the 737's up on those routes, but the passenger loads they did have would easily fill a Fokker 50 or ATP or something like that. This is my first post so please be gentle with me !!!

Doncaster and Bournemouth are on the drop down lists for after november as the routes that are currently available to be booked from these two airports are seat only options on charter flights. i.e. no Alicante, Malaga, Faro yet

Birmingham Airport has begun a search for a new Chief Executive.
They need a 'compelling and charismatic' leader with the ability to energise staff and deliver business transformation.
So Joe Kelly who has been the acting CEO for a year is not confirmed in the job.
Poor guy works his coddlers off for a year, gets Ryanair, gets the planning application in for extended runway, stops the rot in passenger numbers and wam bam, thankyou mam.
The new charismatic leader will be given a £200,000 package.
Any takers?

What on earth has this to do with CVT ??

Perhaps the BHX thread is a better home for it ??

I see TUI have completed their review. Confirmed that the fleet is being restructured to just Boeing's smallest being the 737-800. Increase in long haul destinations. TUIfly to merge with Lufthansa's Germanwings.
Not sure what this means for the CVT operation...but, I don't think the outlook looks good. Unless Germanwings want to operate from CVT.

Least we forget the plan includes the retention of 30 757's that can operate off Coventry.

I love your optimism. I don't think you will ever find them scheduled out of CVT. But Hey!..........You never know..

Listened to the whole webcast which was open to employees and the media.

CVT/BOH will be going, anything that does not fit around tour operations is basically not of interest to Tui anymore.

Words to the effect
the airline is there to serve the tour operator not to serve the bigger company(i.e. standalone airline/seat only)

there will no longer be a fixed seat allocation per route/season on flights, this will be 2nd fiddle to charter/holiday package sales.

cant see CVT staying with the more convenient/familiar BHX 8 miles down road.

Sad news if it comes off, had a cracking experience flying out of CVT to Paris last year, realy great service from eveyone and an absolute pleasure, hopefully no job losses involved if TUI can move them up to BHX and Wizz keep going??

TUI out of CVT?

BlueTui,

Did the webcast give an approx timescale for the pullout?, reason i ask is that I have a few flts booked thougout the year out of CVT.
Shame if they do pull out, moving the loads to BHX will only cause more congestion & put off quite a few who enjoyed the "Simplicity" of flying out of CVT.

Shame really, the guys and gals at EGBE certainly deserve better.

What's interesting though, is that if the terminal application had been successful, the new building would have been opening just as the major carrier withdrew! OK, a brand new shiney terminal might well attract other airlines, but it seems that the TUI withdrawal is entirely due to a change of TUI strategy and not related to the failure to secure a new terminal bulding.

More bad news...The enquiry not scheduled until October. Expected to last six weeks. No decision till end of the year.
I don't think that is going to help anyone.

I understand its the airports intention to take over the executive handling themselves, which is why they have taken the opportunity not to renew a licence with Midwest. Airport authorities and handling....oh dear

I think the airport are grabbing for straws to make some revenue from anywhere they can.

Night network reduced, TUI looking fragile and no terminal......

Sorry if I missed something on this thread but have TUI actually announced that they are pulling out of CVT?

You might think TUI had announced they are pulling out but that is not the case, certainly not for 2008 and probably for 2009. Some speculation on here is well wide of the mark although the long term future of Thomsonfly at CVT is doubtful - due to changes in TUI strategy, due to the decision not to allow the new Terminal and due to the runway length.
The airport are not taking over the Executive handling - it will be done by based operator Blue City Aviation.
The night freight business has recently modestly increased and there is some hope of further business.
Reports of the death of Coventry Airport are premature.
