Yorky Towers

Back on 8th April 2006 'twostroke' posted (#46) a quote from the Leamington Courier which probably sums up the situation at that time.

Here's some more facts:

Original planning app made in the 1990s
Renewed at least twice.

You'll find that permission was granted for a terminal (Just siting) in 1998 and lapsed in 2003. The airport (Owned by those Atlantique/Atlantic people or whatever they were called) submitted a new application that was refused... And then the whole saga started with the IPF & TUI eventually bought the airport and submitted a new planning app in 2004...

The original renderings of the plans used to be knocking around on the web somewhere. You might still be able to find them.

Head back in the books again, cos' your facts don't add up! Try going back a bit earlier than 98' for original application's.

Atlantic's 733

skyliner-aviation.de have it as currently undergoing freighter conversion at Dothan and Jethro's fleets gives an in service date of 01/03/09. Anybody know what it will be used for and if there are more on the way?

Cant see that happening now

With no proper terminal being allowed, the 'credit crunch' and a damaged customer confidence and BHX just down the road, i dont see why any airline would be interested?

if anyone is interested cvt are focusing on biz jet, giving the biz jet clients a vvip terminal on the south side and not appealing on the 2m passenger terminal. cvt's website has the news.

Seems they are doing what everyone thought they should be doing....However, it states that they are concentrating on upgrading current facilities. Does that mean they are doing something with the temporary terminal? Or, are they just going to leave that mothballed?

Surely there is no point in leaving the IPF standing, as with that still there the Airport has to still adhere to the Section 106 Agreement. Remove that and you remove the Section 106 and all the financial pay outs that the airport has to currently make to residents.

Interesting that they are redeveloping Rapide house, and not building something new. IIRC this means that when the IPF does hopefully go, they will still have PDR

Oh? I stand corrected. I was under the impression that Rapide House was the building to the right of the IPF, where the Horizons Cafe as well as Thomsonfly crew room and operations (upstairs) was located.
