From what I understand it's still fire cat 4 Mon-Fri and fire cat 2 on weekends, though availability on request to fire cat 6,
Seeing as they've struggled to get fire cat 4 in the week at times, and rarely can get fire cat up to 3 or 4 at weekends even with notice think that getting fire cat 6 up for any diversions would be pretty much impossible.
Fire cat off the notams now, but a permanent addition to the AIP, less likely to be asked hard questions about fire category if not on the notams I suppose.

From the NATS AIP website, Coventry's fire cover is as follows.
Mon-Fri: RFF Category 2-4 available during published aerodrome hours, subject to aircraft type.
Sat, Sun: RFF Category 2 available during published aerodrome hours.
Up to RFF Category 6 available by prior arrangement during published aerodrome hours
For some administrative reason, CVT never offer Fire Cat 5.
The Cat 2-4 on weekdays means Cat 4 as a basis but may be downgraded for a time to allow staff to do other things when Cat 4 is not required by traffic.

Heard a whisper from management that Stobart group looking to buy Coventry airport, would fit into the business plan after already buying Southend and then would shut the Crick operation and move it to Coventry.
They have been in about 3 or 4 times in the last couple of weeks in their Falcon 900 so could have some legs this rumour.

The rumour is certainly doing the rounds, the Falcon has just landed again.
On the other hand, isn't CVT just the most convenient airport for Crick and the DIRFT (Daventry) where Stobarts have involvement. Land for lorry parks and warehousing at CVT is limited - it was sold off in City Council days.

cant see stobart buying cvt...but if they do citylink are closing their base in coventry also target are reducing activities at their base in cov, so plenty of room for lorry base, also they have an interest in intransit near the airport grounds. But leofric probably has the obvious answer to why stobart has been landing into cvt. But if eddie does buy cvt will it be just frieght or will it be both frieght and passenger. One last thing can he afford cvt after buying southend. Ok one last thing when is atlantic 737 coming to cvt, does anyone know if it is arriving on sunday ( being 1/3/09 the app del date. ) thanks james.

Again agree re the proximity of CVT to Dirft and Stobarts existing operation. But there is also the possibilty of the former Peugeot site at Ryton which is up for development. However I was led to believe that had already been sold, though I may be mistaken, I usually am.

Its probably worth pointing out that Stobart's bizjets have been appearing at CVT for years - due to the proximity of his existing base.

Indeed they have, but on a very occasional basis, not with the regularity that there is now. Normally if visiting Crick will do so using one of their helicopters direct unless weather reasons not to, not a factor in the last few visits.
As i said heard this from a member of the management team at Coventry, though to be fair he is quite well known for somewhat embellishing facts or to put it more crudely, bull****ting.

They expanded Southend...Even with another buyer it won't change the restrictions on CVT.
There Biz Jet has been into BHX a few times....Doubt they were looking at buying that...

Last December Stobarts did say that the Southend purchase marked the end of their current acquisition plans (apart from the ongoing Carlisle purchase of course) and that a period of consolidation would now follow.
Things can quickly change of course and maybe the present owners of Coventry are looking to offload it at a giveaway price. Who knows.

Peugot's site was sold, but the buyers were trying to get out of it/get some cash back last I heard - some sort of court case was going on. I think they bought it just before the crash. I think it was bought by the Barclay Brothers. Home Delivery Network are apparently moving their HQ and used the old Peugot buildings over Xmas as a depot - now it's all been demolished.
Edit: did some searching - barclay brothers were going to sell some of their stake in Ryton to Prologis... not sure whether it happened. Although the site was originally bought by a company called Trenport Investments... not sure what's going on with the site. As it's in Rugby district, any applications will done through rugby council.
I think there was some doubt the Prologis deal would go through as the company stopped expansion...

does anyone know if atlantics 737 came in today also went pass cvt yesterday, there was a twin prop in on the main apron with a small yellow marking on the tail, not to sure what it was.

Looks like CVT figures year on year the worst of any airport in the UK comparing Januaruy 08 to January 09, this obviously well before Thomsonfly had pulled out.
Air Transport movements down 71.8% on the January figures, year on year 42.9% down.
Been a marked reduction in both freight and bizjet flights the last month too, from an already low base, can't be looking good.
