There are still good options for Cov, regardless of whether Thomson pull out (in some ways this would actually be a good thing). I understand there are some very positive things going on at the airport, with good news to flow through in the next few weeks.

groveaviaotin Pointless argument
Hardly as access has always been a downside of Cov.
However, I hope your second post proves to be correct. No one wants to see the airport lost to Coventry. Fingers crossed then from this point. Well for a few weeks at least..

it seems that people are only talking about tom pulling out and distances between cvt and bhx. what about wizz, they're having good pax loads rumour has it another route is forecasted. perhaps if tom do pull out then wizz might increase their presence at cvt. as mentioned in previous thread by another member could cvt become a gateway for eastern european operators. well lets hope what groveavaition said yesterday will be good news in the next few weeks.

Wizz! Only good news at Luton with this airline and their current and intended route network could well enhance Coventry's future?
Realistically, Thomson without an airframe that can operate unhindered from Coventry's runway, their demise must be inevitable?
TUI are re-trenching back to their charter market which ironically, Britannia were rather good at serving until the German purchase.
EGBE can survive with an ugly neighbour, Luton has competed rather well with Stansted considering the unequal and BAA distorted market in Essex!

There is a "new"* nightly freight service recently started t&f Kortrijk using a Polish Saab340 with potential other scheduled freight flights to follow.
* the Kortrijk - Coventry flight has operated in the past, Emerald used to operate it but ceased last year.

CVT
Hello, new to pprune...
When Thomsonfly started in 2004.. I thought it was going to be such a great thing and would be expanded.. It is such a shame that still they have not been allowed to expand the terminal!
Just wanted to comment on earlier posts: Thomsonfly fleet plan is to retire the 757s in favour of the 738s and then have 787s on long haul.
No problems flying the 757 into CVT the problem was lack of apron! the aircraft was just too big!
I think CVT was a good kick start to Thomsonfly but they maybe seeing that customer prefer BHX. I don't know what future CVT has in the market... for Low cost BHX is only up the road and for freight EMA is only up the road.
I thought CVT would be expanded but now I see it going more like wellsbourne!
Will Wizz still be at CVT in 4 years time???
Will be interesting to see what happens!

CVT has plenty of problems but customers not liking the place does not, perhaps surprisingly, seem to be a major issue. For every one person complaining about the facilities, there seem to be several saying how much they like the lack of shopping centre, short distances, friendly service etc.

Lack of apron space for the 757 was a problem two years ago but since then the apron has been extended and reconfigured, there are now two stands capable of accomodating the 757.
Then Farnair took it over and ran it via Eindhoven before coming back to CVT, I thought???
I wasn't sure if the Polish SF-340 was simply taking over from the Farnair Kortrijk sector?

On the arrivals section of the website, Flight TWJ3 from Inverness is currently showing.
Could anyone be so kind as to tell me who TWJ are and if the flight operated?
Thanks

TWJ3 was a Legacy (the bizjet version of the Embraer 135) & arrived at Coventry Wednesday night after routing Tel Aviv - Luton - Coventry.
It then departed Coventry for Inverness this morning, returning later

i heard from a friend who works at target ( now citylink) near the airport, he was talking about cvt's small 2nd runway. he mentioned that if bhx gets their extension, cvt will be, if allowed, be having an major runway expansion and will also be having a major freight company with aircraft coming in. he also mentioned that royal mail is in trouble with thier pensions and rumour has it thier hub at the airport is going to be sold. has anyone got any other contacts with any inside info on this subject. if it does happen it would be a good turn around for the airport in years to come.

freight could be all that is left at Coventry within 2 years. The current operation is supected to loss £1m/year. They are overdue in filing accounts at com house. If Thomsomfly pull out then the airport may call in administers if the management can not treat the firm as a going concern. The other option is that its backers redevelop it into warehousing. It is going to be hard with the car factory closing just 1/2 mile down the A45 putting lots of land on the market. Most likely it will just strugle on with freight only.
CVT will never get expanded.

Whether the airport and Parcelforce have an understanding is one thing;the point is that the plnners for that part of the airport are the anti-aviation South Warwickshire District Council. Having spent millions fighting against the terminal expansion, thay are unlikely to turn around and give the go-ahead to a runway extension.
If (or more likely when) Thomson leave CVT they have, despite not making any money from it themselves, proved that there is a demand for low-cost flights from CVT. All it needs is an airline that knows how to do the job properly to move in and pick up the customers
