Surely this Doesent make sense - launch a new cotk service to Boston and then straight away cannibalise it by announcing a competing service from Shannon - not much strategic thought behind that you wouldn't imagine

It's not about making money on either route, or 737s from Ireland, it's about pressuring the US DOT to drop their opposition to Norwegian's full US expansion plans, and 787s between major cities all over Europe and the US.

"hey look, our Irish subsidiary wants to fly between Ireland and the States, and you won't let us".

Further backs up the theory of Norweigan not caring about operating from Regional Irish airports at all and only doing it for the flag of Convience.

Review of Ryanair routes at SNN ongoing. Strongest contender is downgrading SNN to a 1 aircraft base in Winter, with BVA and WRO to be cut, and MAN reduced. TFS is also under threat for next winter too.

Never, you don't announce bad news (unless of course it's major).

The Clare Herald will probably pick up on the story towards the end of the season its okay.

Wow aer Ryan that would be a savage blow if that level of cuts are applied - if Shannon can't sustain these routes given the current favourable economic situation and with oil prices at record low then the target of 2m plus passengers in the next couple of years will be a pipe dream - don't see Ryanair cutting that amount to be honest - could see Paris and Munich going as from what i hear they are underperforming significantly

AFAIK Ryanair hedge fuel so the lower fuel prices don't affect them as much. FMM is a summer route so we'd be talking of a return in 2017 if we are to talk about it.

Loss of 4 flights per week next winter with Ryanair.

MAN from 7pw to 5pw.
BVA from 2pw to cut.

United also changing EWR to 6pw for November. Previously this was only DEC-MAR.

Retained hopefully, not looking hopeful though considering ORK-WRO is bookable.

Dissapointed on Paris but inevitable given its poor performance since reintroduced - a shame though

WMI and WRO now bookable.
This will likely be the final rollout of the schedule.

A PR release will be released soon by FR, may just be conformation of the the winter schedule, but there could be an added treat, I'm unsure of the details.

Delta SNN-JFK resumed today with their 767-300 aircraft, upgraded from last years 757.

The SNN-US market has been growing exponentially over the past few year, with 75% of the traffic being inbound tourism, the euro being so weak and both the Irish and US economies growing this should no doubt continue to grow and strengthen over the next few years.

It's not been exponential (!!!) but it has been impressive for sure.
Interestgin that a lot of markets thought long doomed have survived as a Westbound dominance has become an Eastbound one.
