An earlier post seemed to suggest that with the current fleet of 5 a/c expansion would not be possible. Maybe they are going to expand the fleet if the last post about new routes is correct. Next week should be interesting.

WOW, please give us scheduled LBA-JER service next summer to add to your services from LBA to BRS, NQY and PLH. BD finally killed the route a few months ago wondering why people didn't want to pay £150 for their service when TOM and WW were offering £40 returns from DSA and MAN respectively.

May I say a GCI tag on would be appreciated by many too.

Cyrano

To cut it short No CWL route to Jersey now.

Thomson?Aer arran might not opperate at all next year on the CWL to JER route but no confirmation yet if they will or not.

Flybe if they have a second rotation from BRS to JER, the CWL route may not start up at all.

No New routes, well sort of anyway. Havent actually seen the exact timetable but there are 'tweaks' here and there. The early MAN from BRS will connect with the PLH flight once more, thus providing an early MAN service from PLH. Sadly, BRS will be loosing the NWI service come Middle winter sometime. Thats a shame for the people using that one. Hasnt even been going a year yet....

Having just tried to book flights to NQY for the family holiday next year, it looks like they've tweaked the LBA-NQY service too. Direct services during the week seem to have been axed but the first and last LBA-BRS flights continue onto NQY. The direct LBA-NQY service on Saturday stays and a new direct Sunday service has been added. Seems to make sense really, use the spare capacity on LBA-BRS that 3 x daily has brought to mop up the thinner NQY market during the week and improve the direct service on a weekend.

682ft amsl,

Yes, some changes are positive. Seems the direct LBA-NQY service has been scrapped for a direct NQY-LGW (taking the service to 5x daily). The early LBA-BRS-NQY can operate due to the fact that there will be no BRS-NWI flight.

I think the tweaks that have been made here and there are nothing but positive stuff, and will do well. Its just a shame that the NWI never was allowed to get going. Its also a shame that there will be no expansion (ie: no new aircraft) next year since there are a number of routes ex CDF, ex BRS, ex NQY that are just waiting to be flown.....

The Jersey schedule is much the same as summer 2006 with daily flights to Plymouth and Bristol. On Saturdays there will again be a direct route to Bristol instead of via Plymouth.

There is a slight tweaking in times on Saturdays on the Bristol flight, which I believe must be for an additional charter flight. The aircraft from Plymouth will operate to Leeds Bradford (the same as last year), and the Bristol flight to a yet unknown destination.

Im Back from like a 5 month abscence lol

Bristol - Norwich being axed is shocking, it was preforming very well from what I ahve been told, I would have expected it to have gone 2x daily.

Cardiff - Manchester & Newquay - I am suprised that this route hasn't either been axed or reduced.

Plymouth - Manchester going back to 2x daily is great news, we all hated that reduction here in plymouth, This is good to see.

Newquay - Leeds Bradford - The Direct Mon-Fri being dropped is slightly suprsing but it is more viable to operate 2x daily via Bristol,

All the other Routes seem to be unchanged.

I would have liked to have seen more routes!!

I imagine Flybe's EXT - NWI has taken some of the demand away from BRS - NWI and probably hit the yields quite badly....

Regarding BRS-NWI, yes it looked like they were carrying half-decent numbers sometimes, but as always it's not just how many bums on seats but how much they are paying. From my sample-check of their website, Norwich was selling pretty cheap!

Air Southwest

With the annoncement of the Flybe take over of Bacon and the Dash 300 will go in the new year is this the opertunity Air Southwest is looking for for expansion in certain areas.

The Dash 8 300s would just need a coat of paint, the BA crews would join with out a bat of an eyelide? the aircraft are British Registered and crews are currant, so if the Company has the finacial push they could well look at major expansion for the summer of 2007.

We will have to wait and see what the full outcome may be but it could well be interesting as the Dash 300 is a coach size type to fill compared to 40 percent more seating in th Dash 8 400.

This could give Air Southwest an opertunity so look at route with the Dash 8 £00 radiating out of Bournemouth to a number of places in the North of the U.K. or even to the Emerald isle maybe.

It's an excellent opportunity for Air Southwest to become a major player in the UK regions. Bristol is the only airport that Flybe seem unprepared to commit to and could prove to be a great step on to the European ladder for Air Southwest. I think a number of guys over at BACON would be quite happy to jump ship to WOW if the offer is right.

However,
With the sale being finalised by January - and Air Southwest announcing their routes up until October next year. With no planned expansion just a year of consolidation.

Will they jump on this? Or will the 300's go to someone like Eastern

*Edit* Or might Flybe be feeling rather flush with cash and Eyeing WOW too. Would go well the BaCons 300's and they have the slots...

Go to Eastern

If you look at the the Eastern fleet to get another type on the AOC would take some time although crews and aircraft would not be a problem i think.

With Air Southwest being an opperator of Five of the type at the moment they could be up and running new routes with in week where as Eastern would take month.

Would Eastern want a fourth type on the AOC??

The more types on an AOC can be a night mare for ops and crewing so small companies need to keep it clean and simple.

This would require a wee bit of drive and ambition from the Management @ ASW.. Seldom shown I'm afraid, stagnant business sense and slow to move. Shame really they could gain a huge ammount from the Flybe Bacon situation. Rumour is they're looking closely @ the situation. Smells like the time Air Wales sadly went belly up and ASW failed to capitalise on ANY of the routes (even though they operated through their home ground, PLH????)

Too true, Crew! ASW are not exactly renowned for bringing home the BACon!

Dash 8 300

Will Air Southwest take on another Dash in the new year as a back up as Flybe will dispose of the BA Connect ones in the new year.

The reason why I ask is the Plymouth-Jersey-Plymouth today Wednesday was operated with an Air Atlantique ATR42, was this just a one off due tech problem?? or is it due to major maintence on the Dash 8 fleet??

With Flybe disposing of the Dash 8 300 fleet there could be a bargain to be had?
